| Commodore 64 - 25th Anniversary Celebration |
 |
[Recorded Dec 10, 2007]
The Commodore 64 was an 8-bit home computer
released by Commodore International in
August, 1982, and during it's lifetime
(between 1982 and 1994), sales totaled close
to 17 million units, making it the
best-selling single personal computer model
of all time. Approximately 10,000 commercial
software titles were developed for the
Commodore 64 including development tools,
office applications, and games.
The C64 made an impressive debut at the 1982
Winter Consumer Electronics Show, as recalled
by Production Engineer David A. Ziembicki:
All we saw at our booth were Atari people
with their mouths dropping open, saying, 'How
can you do that for $595?'
The term personal computer was a common term
in the early 80's and was used as early as
1972 to characterize Xerox PARC's Alto.
During this era of microcomputer innovation,
the market was dominated by the IBM Personal
Computer (IBM PC), the Commodore 64, the
Atari 8-bit family, the Apple II, Tandy
Corporation's TRS-80s, and various CP/M
machines.
Although the history of the Commodore is
rich, the histories of the people and the
companies that developed these early personal
computers are also critical to the personal
productivity tools and business solutions we
often take for granted in our daily lives.
This panel discussion is a celebration of the
Commodore 64 computer and how it spawned a
tremendous market for home, small business,
distributed and networked technology. Tags : Computer History Commodore 64 Jack Tramiel Steve Wozniak PC |

UPDATE #7: I will be appearing on Fox
Business News tomorrow (19th) at 8:10 AM
Eastern Time, 7:10 Central, and 5:10 Pacific
Time to discuss the Ebay Boycott. It's
channel 359 on Direct TV. This is not your
local Fox channel, its a national news
channel so you'll need to have cable to watch
it. Tune in if you can and show me and Fox
News some ratings support!
UPDATE #6: Tazbar.com offering Buy It Now
specials and a cash prize contest during the
week of the strike! Overstock.com is offering
a 50% discount to any Ebay sellers who list
during the week of the strike! ebid.net is
offering a 48 hour special for lifetime
listings! ecrater.com is totally FREE! Lets
support these Ebay alternatives as they
support us!!!
UPDATE #5: Ebay runs another listing special
in the US. Listings go up by 3 million.
That's now two listing specials in less than
two weeks. Unheard of.
UPDATE#4: Many people are being unfairly
banned from Ebay for simply expressing
disagreement with the oncoming changes. Ebay
stated we could share our opinions and they
would listen but when we do they ban with no
warning, no email...nothing. We've gotten
tired of the censorship and taken our
discussions to our own forum with live chat
capabilities. All are welcome to join us.
Link is above.
UPDATE #3: On 2/5/08, Ebay notices that
listing counts are getting dangerously low
and have not been in the green since their
announcement. They run a listing sale in
Canada to temporarily and artifically
increase listing numbers. Even with the
Canadian listing sale, as of 12:04 AM on the
6th, listing counts appear to have only gone
up by 378,122 listings.
UPDATE#2: As of 2/5/08, thch123 has been
banned from Ebay for making the other strike
video. Looks like the Ebay powers that be
don't like us much!
UPDATE: As of 2/4/08, I have now been BANNED
from Ebay for simply making this video. Mr.
Donahoe doesn't appear to like me too much.
I give my express permission to all
individuls watching this video that they are
permitted to comment on it, favorite it,
subscribe, embed it on any other web site
they deem appropriate, and email it to anyone
they should so choose. Tags : Ebay Seller Buyer Strike Fee Increase John Donahoe Meg Whitman Pay Pal Cost Raise Feedback |
