| Amtrak Train #513 |
 |
Amtrak Cascades Train #513 made a stop for
some passengers at Edmonds, Washington. The
horn was kind of like a sick horn because the
horn was behind the locomotive exhaust. But
it really helped when trains go high speed,
so the horn was louder then ever. Tags : Amtrak Train 513 Passenger Edmonds Washington |

| Early Amtrak Across Wisconsin |
 |
On May 1, 1971, Amtrak became Wisconsin's
rail passenger carrier. Passenger service
along the Burlington Northern's Mississippi
River Route ended as did all service on the
Chicago & North Western. Famous train names
such as the Milwaukee Road's Hiawathas,
C&NW's Streamliners, and Burlington
Northern's North Coast Limited disappeared.
When Amtrak began, only the Empire Builder
and Chicago-to-Milwaukee corridor service
were spared, and the Builder was rerouted
from the BN onto the Milwaukee's Twin Cities
line.
By November, 1971, Amtrak was ready for some
new Wisconsin trains. Added were Hiawatha
trains to the Twin Cities; North Coast
Hiawatha trains to Seattle via Southern
Montana; and St. Louis service through
Chicago to Milwaukee. Things were looking up
for Wisconsin's rail passenger service!
The first vestiges of Amtrak paint slowly
appeared in 1972 and in 1973 there were brand
new Amtrak engines. However, mismatched
"Rainbow" consists were still the rule. GM&O
heavyweight parlor cars often appeared as did
Denver, Kansas City and California Zephyr
Silver dome-observation cars. Soon the E and
F locomotives would disappear forever, but in
these vintage years they still dominated the
trains.
Early Amtrak Across Wisconsin follows Amtrak
from the Twin Cities to Southern Wisconsin in
the years 1971-73. Locations include such
railroading hot spots as St. Croix Junction
south of St. Paul, La Crosse, and
Duplainville Tower west of Milwaukee. There
are scenic views along the Mississippi River
and many photo locations in the metro
Milwaukee area. The Amtrak trains you will
see include:

A Song, Sounds and Images of Amtrak trains. I
would love to have photos from others around
the country from the cities I mention in my
song. Please send me a couple if you would
like to be in the next updated video. This is
my very first video production. I wish Amtrak
would catch on to this song, this would give
them a big boost! Besides my love of music,
trains has always been a part of me too. I
hope you enjoy this! Tags : Amtrak Train Cities Model Railroads Depot Freight Station Passengers Photography Ray Tutaj jr |

| Amtrak California Zephyr Train trip part 1 |
 |
I made this video on board the Amtrak
California Zephyr line train No. 5 during a
Westbound trip from Denver, Colorado to
Provo, Utah. (The Amtrak California Zephyr
train route is between Chicago and San
Francisco and crosses the Rocky Mountain
range.) This video (Part 1) that I made is a
mainly a walk through tour in the coach class
section inside the train, including the
lounge car. I noticed that they now have
tables installed in the upper level of the
lounge car. Part 2 video is mainly of video
taken out the window of scenery up in the
Rocky Mountain range shortly after the train
left Denver. The camera I used was a Sony
DSC-H2 digital still camera used in MPEG
video mode. You can view photos of some of my
Amtrak train trips I posted at Webshots at
