| Jean Schmidt cuts and runs, John Murtha doesn't |

On her first time ever speaking from the
House floor, Representative Jean Schmidt
causes a commotion by violating the tradition
against personal attacks from the floor,
accusing Rep John Murtha, a decorated
Vietnam Veteran, of cowardice. Immediately
afterward, she recants, and asks that her
remarks be withdrawn from the record.
Oddly, the person she "quoted" claims never
to have made the statement attributed to him.
It is one of a series of bizarre
fabrications attrbuted to Ms. Schmidt.

of songs and sketches. For years available
only as a rare soundtrack LP, here at last is
the original hi-fi album CD audio, synched to
the B&W kinescope of this historic broadcast.
Noel Coward (fresh from his triumph in Las
Vegas) performs a stunning rendition of his
signature tune, MAD DOGS AND ENGLISHMEN.
