| Duesenberg - Great Cars |
 |
From the PBS series Great Cars. The ultimate,
the top, the crème de la crème -- the
builders of the Duesenberg defied the odds
and entered the Depression era with the most
costly, powerful and daring auto ever built.
If you were a king, a maharajah, a movie
star, a gangster, or simply very rich -- you
had to have a Duesy.
It was hands-down, simply the best and
fastest car on the road. It even inspired a
term, "it's a Duesy (Doozie)." It was gone by
the end of the decade, but what a ride! Fewer
than 500 of the classic Model J's were built
between 1928 and the company's collapse in
1938. But over 400 of these desirable autos
remain in the collections of lucky owners who
still will say, "it's a Duesy." Tags : Duesenberg classic luxury car auto automobile history |

| Duesenberg |

It's one thing to see a classic in a museum,
but there's something thrilling about seeing
automobile art in motion. Looks like the
Duesenberg Model JN from 1936. The body is by
Bohman & Schwartz, Los Angeles. Check out the
"Topper" Buick, also on my channel. Oh! And
that's Constance Bennett and Brian Aherne. An
added bonus, from the same film, is the 1937
Ford station wagon. Tags : classic 1930s glamour car convertible |

| 1933 Duesenberg SJ Speedster |
 |
Body by Schwartz of Pasadena Calif.
Chassis No. 2536
Motor straight 8 Double overhead Cam
Supercharged:
420.0 Cu. Inches
320 HP
3 speed transmission:
Started in 1918 Duesenberg was from the
beginning the finest automobile made in the
USA. It rivals the best from Europe ie:
Mercedes etc. The motors built by Lycoming
are a piece of art in them self delivering a
tremendous 320 HP that would pull in high
gear at a crawl to well over 125 MPH. The SJ
is the supercharged version and the body by
Schwartz made into the speedster screams
power and style. At a cost of $17,000 in 1933
and being built during the great depression
Duesenberg never made a profit and collapsed
in 1937. Today the Duesenberg,Cord and Auburn
cars are highly sought and the Duesenbergs
are held in collections by some of the
wealthiest people in the world. Tags : Duesenberg FamilyClassicCars FamilyClassicCars.com |
