| TV3 - EntrelÃnies: Immigrants independentistes |
 |
Els immigrants que se senten independentistes
a Catalunya solen tenir el comú denominador
d'haver viscut als seus països d'origen
conflictes territorials, dictadures o
processos sobiranistes. Aquest fet i
l'agraïment al paÃs d'acollida fan que
tinguin un especial interès per integrar-se
a la nova realitat i solidaritzar-se amb la
causa independentista. Tags : TV3 Catalunya entre linies independencia immigracio català |

| Stop Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants |
 |
Policy expert Robert Rector describes how the
Bush/Kennedy/McCain amnesty for illegal
aliens scheme will result in more than 100
million additional immigrants to the United
States within just 20 years.
Mr. Rector is the person who did the research
and discovered the shocking facts about the
amnesty bill which began the massive citizen
opposition to any form of amnesty, guest
worker program, 'pathway to citizenship,' or
other means for promoting massive
immigration. Immigrants under these bills
could bring in their extended familes to take
advantage of welfare, medicare and other
government programs.
Americans made it clear they want a full
2,300 mile fence and a stop to all illegal
immigration. The Bush policy of allowing
virtually unlimited border crossings and
pushing for amnesty is related to the greater
agenda of merging America, Mexico, and Canada
into one giant Socialist "North American
Union"--see our video on the NAU here at
TCCTV on YouTube.

| South African immigrants afraid to return home - 22 May 08 |
 |
Thabo Mbeki, the South African president, has
ordered the army to deploy troops to quell
violence against foreigners.
This marks the first time for the South
African army to combat violence in the
streets since the end of apartheid in 1994.
The attacks on immigrants began last week,
costing the lives of more than 42 people and
16,000 displaced.
Yvonne Ndege, Al Jazeera's correspondent in
South Africa, reports on the violence that is
being fuelled by the perception among some
poor South Africans, that the immigrants are
robbing them of jobs and other scarce
resources.
Most of the foreigners have fled from the
economic and political turmoil gripping
Zimbabwe. Others are from Mozambique, with
more than 3,000 of them having already left
South Africa. Tags : al jazeera english Yvonne Ndege South Africa Thabo Mbeki violence apartheid zimbabwe |

| Racist Immigrants |

Some immigrants publicly proclaim a pre-civil
rights mindset. A CNN report documents racist
immigrants in California describing how they
hate black people. CNN provides the
statistics on how this problem has caused the
crime rates to soar in LA. Tags : racist mexican immigrant immigration black LA california |

Note: I've been debating in the comments
section and have pretty much responded to
every opposing argument that exists on this
issue. At this point, no one is making any
new arguments, and no one has offered me
anything based on any credible evidence.
Thus, the debate has concluded, and due to
the overwhelming amount of morons who have
left racial slurs and ad hominem attacks in
the comments section, I've decided to filter
the comments from this point on.
This is episode 008 of Capitol Hill Gangsta.
In this episode I explore the current
immigration debate. Admittedly, I had to
gloss over the complexities of the issue in
the video due to time constraints.
SOURCES:
The bulk of my data come from the research
and writings of Tyler Cowen, Alex Tabarrok,
Grancesco Giavazzi, Philippe Legrain, Robert
Whaples, Jagdish Bhagwati, Bob Hamilton,
Alberto Alesina, David Henderson, Jonathon
Moses, Bjorn Letnes, Giovanni Peri, John
Whalley, Gordon Hanson, Julian Simon, Pia
Orrenius, and the wonderful and talented Jose
Moya of Columbia University. Collectively,
these scholars and professional economists
have put out an abundance of literature on
the subject (too much to list here). Feel
free to search Jstor or any other scholarly
journal database for some their work in order
to check the accuracy of my statements.
MORE COOL STUFF:
Here are a few other interesting things I
found on the internet after posting this
video (the following links are NOT sources,
they are simply interesting things to look
at):
Here is economist Alex Tabarrok's "Open
Letter on Immigration," which reportedly
reflects the consensus among economists on
the issue:

olution/2006/05/open_letter_on_.html
Here is a study on Mexican carpenters working
in California by UC Davis Professor Giovanni
Peri. The conclusion of the study suggests
that immigrants don't take jobs away from
natives:
