half-surreal, half-metaphysical rendition of
how human beings work in their most powerful
emotions: love, guilt, fear, dying...
Wonderfully photographed, with some quality,
catchy music and witty, sometimes demonic in
its cynicism texts based on a novel by W.
Gombrowicz...
Part1.
Is 1943, in 'ex-Poland', occupied by Nazis, a
group of writers,artists and thinkers meets
in a flat to play their role of bohemian
'spiritual leaders' despite of everything...
Writer and a deeply humanistic soul
Witold (alter-ego of the author,
white-bearded) meets Frederic - a 'dark'
charactered, extremely ironic, mysterious
artist, wanderer with sore past... In the
last-minute scene Frederic asks: - Am I
handsome? and Witold answers: - You've got
the 'face'...And this is quite different
category than being 'handsome'... And
Frederic; - I'm not only handsome, I'm
beautiful...
