GYORGY LIGETI - ATMOSPHERES (1960/1) Gyorgy
Sandor Ligeti, Transylvania 1923 - Austria
2006. Gyorgy Ligeti was, along with Karlheinz
Stockhausen, Iannis Xenakis and Pierre
Boulez, one of a group of composers that
revolutionised postwar music. Perhaps his
most notable, certainly his most famous,
piece was Atmospheres from 1960. It is the
best known of his micropolyphony/soundscape
pieces.
This work featured, along with Ligeti's
Requiem and Lux Aeterna, on the soundtrack of
Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Tags : GYORGY LIGETI ATMOSPHERES MICROPOLYPHONY |

| Ligeti's "Atmosphères" |
 |
One of the most famous pieces exemplifying
Ligeti's technique of "micropolyphony." One
of my music history professors once likened
the sound of this piece to relaxing and
watching clouds move by as they gradually,
almost imperceptibly change shape-- in much
the same manner as Ligeti's masses of sound. Tags : György Ligeti Atmosphères |

| A Silver Mt. Zion - Microphones In The Trees |
 |
This was the First Unitarian Church show in
Philadelphia, PA, on 05/22/08.
This was the second and last song of the
encore, and because some people had left I
managed to get further up into the crowd,
which worked out really well. I didn't let
the camera calibrate the light long enough,
so the picture does look a bit dark, so sorry
for that, but the picture quality itself
should be better than the previous video. As
I said before, the show was just amazing, and
beautiful, and I was so happy to get to see
them. I hope you guys enjoy this! Tags : Silver Mt. Zion First Unitarian Church Thee Memorial Orchestra Tra-La-La Band 05/22/08 Post-Rock |

| The Microphones - You'll Be In The Air |
 |
from The Glow Pt. 2
you'll be in the air
in some hours you'll be over the sea
lost in the other passengers on the plane
but if you just moved your arms then you
could tell
that you are in the air
you'd feel the yawning gulf grow wider
you'd feel the dwindling fuel for your lungs
and your breaths would slow
you'd be in the air
you'd feel the hot blowing rock filled winds
and the clouds of ash would fill your skies
and you'd smoothly glide
over the cold river basin where we spend the
night
and again your gaping gap is pink in foggy
light
when i wake up your pet will pounce i'll meet
the day
i'll be in your bed, you'll be in the air
when i'm awake
can you tell that i'm down here
can you feel my hot lungey wind
was it intense to smell my skin and not lose
yourself
i'll look pinkly out your window in the fog
and loud and clearly i'll pick out your
resounding roar
you'll be in the air
you'll bear fruit, your bare feet
your bare arms in the heat
you'll be able to feel your might
