does it spread and is the testing of our beef
supply necessary? This program takes you to

| 'Mad Cow' Fears in South Korea |
 |
CHEN:
Fifty thousand South Korean protesters start
a 72-hour relay protest. They are against a
government move to resume imports of U.S.
beef that they say are dangerous.
STORY:
Thousands of people, worried about mad cow
disease have held daily protests. They're
accusing President Lee of kowtowing to
Washington with the beef deal and ignoring
safety concerns.
The organizers of the candle-lit vigil said
50,000 people were at the rally in downtown
Seoul. The already week-long protest wants
U.S. beef imports stopped.
These protesters say they hope the government
will pay attention.
[Kim Hyun-lin, Protester]:
"We want to use this opportunity to highlight
our opinions to the government, that we will
not just sit idle and watch what the
government is doing. I'm here to add support
to the cause and raise my voice more loudly."
[Na Kyung-se, Protester]:
"This government is not listening to our
requests in this rally and it's not taking
any serious measures.
The government just expects the protests will
die down sooner or later if the rallies are
blocked."
President Lee Myung-bak has been clearly
caught by surprise by the protests as his
popularity has plummeted over the decision.
Lee's conservative ruling party suffered a
crushing defeat in local by-elections
yesterday.
To calm public anger, the government says it
will not allow imports of meat from older
U.S. cattle, which the public sees as more
dangerous.
Before the import ban in 2003, South Korea
imported over 200,000 tons of U.S. beef a
year, the biggest destination after Japan and
Mexico.
The United States says it is willing to work
with its Asian ally, but there was no need to
renegotiate the deal. Tags : ntd ntdtv news Mad-Cow South-Korea government Myung-bak protesters U.S beef |

| MAD COW OR MAD HUMAN DISEASE ? |
 |
THE CURE FOR CANCER : COW PROTECTION
http://protectacow.typepad.com/
Protection of bulls and cows and all other
animals can be possible only when there is a
state ruled by an executive head like
Maharaja Pariksit. Maharaja Pariksit
addresses the cow as mother, for he is a
cultured, twice-born, ksatriya king. Surabhi
is the name of the cows which exist in the
spiritual planets and are especially reared
by Lord Sri Krsna Himself. As men are made
after the form and features of the Supreme
Lord, so also the cows are made after the
form and features of the surabhi cows in the
spiritual kingdom. In the material world the
human society gives all protection to the
human being, but there is no law to protect
the descendants of Surabhi, who can give all
protection to men by supplying the miracle
food, milk. But Maharaja Pariksit and the
Pandavas were fully conscious of the
importance of the cow and bull, and they were
prepared to punish the cow-killer with all
chastisement, including death. There has
sometimes been agitation for the protection
of the cow, but for want of pious executive
heads and suitable laws, the cow and the bull
are not given protection. The human society
should recognize the importance of the cow
and the bull and thus give all protection to
these important animals, following in the
footsteps of Maharaja Pariksit. For
protecting the cows and brahminical culture,
the Lord, who is very kind to the cow and the
brahmanas (go-brahmana-hitaya), will be
pleased with us and will bestow upon us real
peace. SB 1.17.9 Tags : PRABHUPADA HARE KRSNA PROTECTACOW CANCER CURE MAD COW DISEASE AGRICULTURE GRASSLAND MANAGEMENT BULL PROTECTION GITA VEDA |

| Mad Cow Cover-up: Original U.S. "Mad Cow" wasn't a Downer |
 |
Mad Cow Disease (BSE) is in the news again.
The Humane Society released a video of
suffering "down" cows being tortured into
standing up long enough to be considered
"walkers" and therefore safe to eat by
current USDA standards. The video also shows
the California slaughterhouse processing cows
too weak to be tortured into standing. In
response to the video, the USDA forced a
recall of 143 million pounds of beef that was
already in the food chain, much of it already
consumed in school lunches.
But horrible as the situation is, there is
something more horrible, not covered (as
usual) by corporate media.
The "process no downers" rule was instituted
after the first mad cow was discovered in
Eastern Washington. But the "mad cow" wasn't
a downer.
As required by the European Union and Japan,
mandatory testing of all cattle needs to be
performed prior to slaughter.
You decide.
We bring you archival footage of the worker
who killed the mad cow, testifying that it
looked fine, was walking and just happened to
arrive in a truck filled with genuine
downers.
This is the story of an everyday guy who
found himself at the center of the storm and
who rose to the occasion to do the right
thing. "I'm proud to be a cow-killer," he
says, "but I'm no murderer!"
He felt that if he participated in the
cover-up, he would be complicit in the
knowing exposure of millions of innocent
humans to mad cow disease, a brain-eating
medical condition with no cure.
This is a story corporate media got but
didn't run. We bring it to you again, first
hand from the man who killed the mad cow.

Quoted from the OCA website:
"Join tens of thousands of citizens and sign
the Mad Cow USA-Stop the Madness petition,
demanding that the US Government adopt and
enforce the same strict standards required by
the European Union and Japan:
1) Mandatory testing for all cattle brought
to slaughter, before they enter the food
chain.
2) Ban the feeding of blood, manure, and
slaughterhouse waste to animals.
3) Stop harassing farmers and food processors
who are interested in independently testing
their own beef." Tags : farm animal downer cows dairy cruelty mistreatment BSE Mad Cow Disease brain slaughterhouse hamburger meat steak prions |
