MiG-29 "Fulcrum"
The Mikoyan MiG-29 (Russian: МиГ-29) (NATO reporting name "Fulcrum") is a fighter aircraft designed for the air superiority role in the Soviet Union. Developed in the 1970s by the Mikoyan design bureau, it entered service in 1983 and remains in use by the Russian Air Force as well as in many other nations.Because it was developed from the same basic parameters laid out by TsAGI for the original PFI, the MiG-29 is aerodynamically broadly similar to the Sukhoi Su-27, but with some notable differences. It is built largely out of aluminum with some composite materials. It has a mid-mounted swept wing with blended leading-edge root extensions (LERXs) swept at around 40°. There are swept tailplanes and two vertical fins, mounted on booms outboard of the engines. Automatic slats are mounted on the leading edges of the wings; they are four-segment on early models and five-segment on some later variants. On the trailing edge, there are maneuvering flaps and wingtip ailerons. The MiG-29 has hydraulic controls and a SAU-451 three-axis autopilot but, unlike the Su-27, does not have a fly-by-wire control system. Nonetheless, it is very agile, with excellent instantaneous and sustained turn performance, high alpha capability, and a general resistance to spins. The airframe is stressed for 9-g (88 m/s²) maneuvers. The controls have "soft" limiters to prevent the pilot from exceeding the g and alpha limits, but these can be disabled manually. In joint USAF-Luftwaffe exercises, the downgraded MiG-29 9-12A that the Luftwaffe fielded defeated the F-16 Fighting Falcon in close-range combat almost every time using its highly practical infra-red search and track (IRST) sensor and helmet-mounted sight, together with the Vympel R-73 (NATO reporting name AA-11 'Archer') missile. The MiG-29 has two widely spaced Klimov RD-33 turbofan engines

MiG-29 OVT(MiG-35)the most agile fighter in the world
Russia has unveiled the MiG-35 at an Indian air show Aero India 2007 in Bangalore, amid Moscow's keen interest to sell these planes to India. It was reported that the MIG 35 made it to Bangalore from Moscow, in under three hours, with as many mid air refuellings on the way, flying at supersonic speeds. The MiG-35 is considered to be a serious contender to the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, Dassault Rafale and F-16 Falcon for the bid of more than 126 multirole combat aircraft to be procured by the Indian Air Force. Since the IAF already has maintenance and upgrade facilities for the MiG-29, this would mean that the plane could be brought into service with a minimum of expenditure on infrastructure. Aero India 2007 was the first time that the final version of MiG-35 fighter was displayed. Until the air show in Bangalore only the prototype of the MiG-35 had been shown to the public at air shows in Russia and Britain in 2005. Mikoyan and the Italian company Elettronica in Rome signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide the MIG-35 with a new multifunction self-protection jammerThe Mikoyan MiG-35 (Russian: Микоян МиГ-35) (NATO reporting name Fulcrum F) is the production version of the latest MiG-29 with a thrust vectoring engine and that uses fly-by-wire technology. The aircraft uses the MiG-29M1 airframe and was formerly known as the MiG-29OVT (MiG-29M2 and MiG-29MRCA refer to the twin-seat development). This latest fighter is more agile and has an increased range of more than 2,100 kilometres. It also features improved avionics, vast improvements in weapons, HOTAS systems, wide range of weapons of air to air and air to ground, as well as a variety of defensive and offensive avionics suite. It is no longer tied to the GCI system and would be able to conduct operations independently. It has eight weapon pylons and is able to refuel as well as carry three external fuel tanks. The aircraft is being marketed under the designation MiG-35 for potential export. Russia is promoting the aircraft to various countries such as Syria, Libya, Iran, Algeria, Sudan, India, Mexico, Brazil, Peru. Malaysia is evaluating the type to add to its existing MiG-29B-12 Fulcrums and to the new Su-30MKM Flankers, due to be delivered in 2006. The latest MiG-35 is to be equipped with the new Phazotron Zhuk-AE AESA radar. This new radar can detect aerial targets at 130km range head-on. It can track 30 aerial targets and simultaneously engage 6 in attack mode.General characteristics * Crew: One * Length: 62 ft 4 in (19 m) * Wingspan: 49 ft 10 in (15.2 m) * Height: 19 ft 8 in (6 m) * Empty weight: 33,069 lb (15,000 kg) * Loaded weight: 76,059 lb (34,500 kg) * Powerplant: 2× Two RD 33 OVT optional (thrust vectoring) afterburning turbofans Performance * Maximum speed: 1,367 mph (Mach 2+ km/h) * Range: 2000 km (with external tanks 6000 km) * Service ceiling: 62,000 ft (18,900 m) Armament * 1x 30 mm GSh-30-1 cannon with 150 rounds * Eight weapon pylons for R-27, R-60, R-73, R-77, TV and Laser-Guided Air to ground missiles and bombs. One centerline pylon for external fuel tanks * Up to 2000 lbs of bombs

MIG-29 OVT Awesome Promo Video
Coolest MIG Video Ever! TO WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY just add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL that is currently in your browser and hit enter. This is a very slick presentation for this Russian jet, showing off its thrust vector technology - and check the nice paint job. The Mikoyan MiG-29 (Russian: МиГ-29) is a 4th generation jet fighter aircraft designed for the air superiority role in the Soviet Union. Developed in the 1970s by the Mikoyan design bureau, it entered service in 1983 and remains in use by the Russian Air Force as well as in many other nations. NATO's reporting name for the MiG-29 is "Fulcrum", which was unofficially used by Soviet pilots in service. It was developed to counter new American fighters such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the F/A-18 Hornet. In 1997, the United States purchased 21 Moldovan aircraft for evaluation and analysis, under the Cooperative Threat Reduction accord. Fourteen of the aircraft were the MiG-29S model, which is equipped with an active radar jammer in its spine and is capable of being armed with nuclear weapons. Part of the United States motive to purchase the Moldovan MiG-29s, was to prevent these aircraft from being sold to nations it deemed to be "rogue states", especially Iran. In late 1997, the MiGs were delivered to the National Air Intelligence Center (NAIC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. One former Moldovan MiG-29S is currently on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson, and a MiG-29UB is on display at the NAIC headquarters of the base. The fate of all but one of the former Moldovan MiG-29s is unknown, although many are believed to have been scrapped. One MiG-29 is on display at Nellis AFB, Nevada fully painted in its Soviet colors while another of the former Moldavian aircraft is located on the base in its original camouflage. At NAS Fallon NV air-park, one MiG-29 is on display and another in display at MacDill AFB in Florida minus its canopy. Source: wikipedia
