Rob Swift breaks down different techniques of
scratching including crabs, flares, chirps
and even how to do some basic turntable
drumming. Not only does Rob Swift break down
the different techniques, he also talks about
who invented the techniques and when. Roc
Raida covers backspinning, how to count bars,
and execution of body tricks, among other
things. He doesn't go into their history but
he does a good job of illustrating how to do
them. Total Eclipse takes the following
section of the DVD and teaches beat juggling
and then gets into how to put a routine
together. The final section features all
three of the X-Ecutioners scratching and beat
juggling together.
The video quality, and more importantly the
sound quality, is exceptional and the
chapters are organized by each lesson. All
three of the X-Ecutioners are brilliant DJ's
and definitely do a good job of breaking down
the techniques and illustrating them. I would
highly recommend this movie to anybody who is
developing their DJ talents and also to those
that are refining them. All in all,
X-Ecutioners Built to Scratch is an
exceptional tutorial movie and a must have
for any up and coming DJ. Tags :learntoscratchdjspin
