journalist threw a pair of shoes at Bush, who
made a surprise visit to Baghdad, Iraq on
December 14, 2008. The journalist, Muntadhar
al-Zaiydi, a local television correspondent
referred to Bush as a "dog," as he threw the
shoes, and continued to yell, "This is a
farewell kiss, you dog!"
As he threw his second shoe, he shouted out:
"This is from the widows, the orphans and
those who were killed in Iraq!" Tags : Muntadhar al-Zaiydi Iraq journalist shoe arabic raw video throw threw dog farewell bush press conference baghdad iraq pair footage |

 |
David Martinez was arrested while shooting
this video and he managed to hand off the
camera to me as he was being dragged by the
neck by a cop on a horse.

David Martinez, a videographer from San
Fransisco, who was arrested and accused of
felony assault of a police officer while
video taping the Halliburton protest (while
not doing anything even vaguely aggressive)
made the following statement:
"It is heartening to hear that justice was
served in our cases. Clearly all of the
demonstrators were guilty, if that word may
be used, of little more than doing what
people have done for centuries whenever they
have a grievance with those in power: they
gathered on public land to try and be heard.
In my own instance, I watched as at least one
corporate media cameraman was passed by by
the police as they hurried to apprehend me
for the crime of photographing the arrests
transpiring on the sidewalk. I am glad that
the Grand Jury recognized the First Amendment
when they saw it and no-billed my case."
In May of 2005 more than 300 people from
across Texas and the US came to Houston to
show Halliburton that we do not like war
profiteers in our town. Tags : Halliburton Houston Indymedia War Profiteer Police Brutality anti-war first amendment David Martinez |
