This is my first video here, sorry if it is
too slow, boring and/or it does not have any
music.
This is a video of Beryl running in my old
laptop. A compaq presario 2200LA. Notice it
is not even Vista Capable. It runs slow
because the desktop recorder ate too much
CPU. My computer has 768 MB RAM Intel Celeron
Processor @ 1.40 GHz, Intel 855GM 3D card and
the Linux partition is only 20GB.

Beryl will be the standard composite windows
manager on Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn. Here's a
little taste of what's to come next April. In
the video, Beryl runs on Edgy Eft installed
on a Compaq Evo d310, 1.8 GHz, 384 MiB RAM,
with a 256-MiB NVidia XFX GeForce 680 video
card. Keep in mind that this is a 3 year-old
configuration. You won't be able to do that
with Windows Vista.

Although the AIGLX project has features
similar to Xgl, it is not in fact a competing
product. The project, according to the Fedora
Project Wiki, was founded because Xgl was
written during its final stages "behind
closed doors." This disallowed peer-review of
the system, which goes against the open
source philosophy, and there are critics of
the Xgl architecture who state that because
of the lack of peer-review, the system has
too many flaws to be useful. It is stated,
however, that both the AIGLX and Xgl projects
will swap code and work in a partnership to
ensure compatibility and improvements in both
systems...
AIGLX needs driver support to run and is
therfore currently limited to open source
drivers. AIGLX currently is the best choice
for embeded Intel i830 to i945 or an ATI
Radeon card up to X800 series.
