| Authors@Google: Christian Lander, "Stuff White People Like" |
 |
Christian Lander visits Google's Mountain
View, CA headquarters to discuss his book
"Stuff White People Like: A Definitive Guide
to the Unique Taste of Millions." This event
took place on July 14, 2008, as part of the
Authors@Google series.
You know who they are: They're white people.
And they're here, and you're gonna have to
deal. Fortunately, here's a book that
investigates, explains, and offers advice for
finding social success with the Caucasian
persuasion. So kick back on your IKEA couch
and lose yourself in the ultimate guide to
the unbearable whiteness of being.
Christian Lander is the creator of the
website Stuff White People Like. He is a
Ph.D. dropout who was the 2006 public
speaking instructor of the year at Indiana
University. He has lived in Toronto,
Montreal, Copenhagen, Tucson, Indiana, and
now Los Angeles, where he lives with his
wife, Jess, a photographer who contributed
many of the photos in the book. Tags : Christian Lander Stuff White People Like Definitive Guide to the Unique Taste of Millions Authors@Google atgoogle |

| Naomi Wolf Celebrated Author of "The End of America" |
 |
Fascinating interview with renowned author
Naomi Wolf, perhaps best known for her early
1990s feminist classic "The Beauty Myth",
considered by many to be one of the most
important works of the 20th century.
Wolf discusses her new book "The End of
America", already on the New York Times
bestseller list. The book identifies ten
classic steps common to all dictatorships --
including those of Mussolini, Hitler and
Stalin. Alarmingly, Wolf makes the case that
each of these ten steps is occurring in post
9/11 America today. The book is a call to
action for young and concerned Americans and
this interview intimately frames this
important discussion. Tags : Naomi Wolf End of America Beauty Myth Feminism terrorism politics Alcove with Mark Molaro New York Times Ron Paul |

 |
Inspiring interview with Ethan Nichtern,
Founder and Director of the Interdependence
Project (The ID Project) in New York City and
author of the new book "One City: A
Declaration of Interdependence". This is a
fascinating and personal discussion of
Nichtern's idea of interdependence, as well
as an enlightening conversation about Eastern
ideas in general, such as Buddhism and
meditation. Nichtern talks about how there is
a strong current desire worldwide for a new
social consciousness that properly balances
inner peace with informed civic and social
engagement and responsibility. Tags : Ethan Nichtern Alcove Mark Molaro Janet Lawler One City Interdependence Project ID buddhism meditation spirituality yog |
