boycott of Shell Oil Company because of its
environmental impact on Nigeria and the death
of Ken Saro-Wiwa with eight other
environmental activists. This public policy
video was developed as an information tool
for Project Underground and was first seen at
Berkeley's City Council meeting before they
voted to Boycott Shell Oil. Narrator: Carol

December 16, 2006. Berkeley: This cold
December day of community celebration at the
threatened UC Berkeley stadium Oak Grove
brought many to the site where tree sitters

NEWSmaintain their vigil. Family and friends
of the Oak Grove gathered for a day of dance,
song, face painting and tee shirt making.
Among those who came to support the two-week
long urban tree sit was Berkeley's own
Country Joe McDonald. Country Joe struck up
his version of the "Hoakie Oakie" while
residents and UCB students danced the day

With both police and rain bearing down on the
tree sitters at the University of California
Memorial Stadium oak grove, Phoenix and
Afterbuffalo lifts his voice and spirit in
song and solidarity to those who now stand to
protect with these trees from the Regents of
California's axe. UC Police have moved in and
taken up residence at the north end of the
grove and the community has begun to rally at
the site.
