| CNN supports Milorad Cavic |
 |
At the 1968 Olympics, when the U.S. flag
began rising up the flagpole and the anthem
played, the two men bowed their heads and
raised their fists in a black power salute.
Within hours, Tommie Smith and John Carlos
were expelled from the Olympic Village and
were stripped of their medals. Avery Brundage
justified this by saying, "They violated one
of the basic principles of the Olympic Games:
that politics play no part whatsoever in
them."
The LA Times accused Smith and Carlos of a
"Nazi-like salute."
But if they were being attacked from all
corners, they received support from unlikely
sources.
The Olympic Crew Team, all white and entirely
from Harvard, issued a statement:
"We as individuals have been concerned about
the place of the black man in American
society in their struggle for equal rights.
As members of the US Olympic team, each of us
has come to feel a moral commitment to
support our black teammates in their efforts
to dramatize the injustices and inequities
which permeate out society."
Likewise, Serbian swimmer Milorad Čavić
received a support from an unlikely source -
the CNN itself. Tags : Milorad Cavic Serb swimmer swimming Serbia Kosovo |

Serbian swimmer Milorad Cavic has been
suspended for the rest of the European
championships for wearing a T-shirt
proclaiming 'Kosovo is Serbia' at a medal
ceremony in the Netherlands. The European
swimming league ruled that the shirt worn by
Cavic as he collected gold for the 50-meter
butterfly on Wednesday constitutes a clear
political action. 'As a consequence, the
panel has decided to suspend Milorad Cavic
from further participation in individual
events'. The Serbian swimming federation
also was fined 10 800 dlr. Tags : ChoiceJJ Serbia Kosovo vesti jjvanka |

| Milorad Cavic - punished because freedom of speech |
 |
Milorad Cavic, best Serbian swimmer today and
born in the US, was punished by suspension by
the European swimming league for the message
"Косово је Србија" (Kosovo is
Serbia) on his T-shirt.
Let me guess, a T-shirt with "Free Tibet"
would not be punished! In what kind of world
we live?
Kosovo is Serbia and will ever be Serbia!
European swimming league cannot change it by
this scandalous punishment! Tags : Serbia Kosovo Cavic Milorad Kosvo je Srbija is |
