Peace One Day - A Short Video Explaining
Peace One Day.
Jeremy Gilley is an actor turned film maker,
who in the late 1990's became preoccupied
with questions about the fundamental nature
of humanity and the issue of peace. He
decided to explore these through the medium
of film, and specifically, to create a
documentary following his campaign to
establish a day of ceasefire and
non-violence.
In 1999, Jeremy founded Peace One Day, a
non-profit organisation, and in 2001 Peace
One Day's efforts were rewarded when the
United Nations unanimously adopted the
first-ever day of global ceasefire and
non-violence on 21 September annually - Peace
Day.
In 2007 according to the UN, over 100 million
people were active on Peace Day, in 192
countries. There were life-saving initiatives
in 14 countries, and over 80 activities in
Afghanistan alone where 1.4 million children
were vaccinated against polio.

| Explaining Crop Circles: Dr. Simeon Hein Pt.1 |
 |
Dr. Simeon Hein is the director of the
Institute for Resonance in Boulder, Colorado.
The Institute is devoted to the study of
subtle-energy sciences including remote
viewing, crop circles and related subjects.
Dr. Hein has a Ph.D. in sociology and has
previously taught research methodology at
Washington State University. Dr. Hein first
learned remote viewing in 1996 and
subsequently became involved in crop circle
research. He believes that all crop circles,
regardless of their origin, create magical
effects by virtue of their shape and the
subtle interaction between humans, plants,
and sacred geometry. In addition to assisting
with Institute for Resonance crop circle
tours he continues to teach remote viewing in
Boulder and in Japan. Simeon's most recent
book is Planetary Intelligence: 101 Easy
Steps to Energy, Well-Being, and Natural
Insight, a simple primer for anyone
interested in connecting to subtle-energies
on a daily basis.

| Explaining the Amish Way of Life - VOA Story |
 |
Not far from the hustle and bustle of city
life live the Amish of Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania. These deeply religious people
shun the conveniences of modern society to
live a simpler life where transportation is a
horse and buggy and horsepower really means
horsepower.
The Amish are very devout and take seriously
the biblical commands to separate themselves
from the things of the world including
electricity. Power comes from propane,
kerosene, wood, coal, or natural gas.
As the world around the peaceful farmland
changes, so have some of the traditions of
the Amish. Transportation is no longer
limited to horse-drawn buggies. "There is a
division among the Amish over the automobile.
One group got automobiles, another group kept
the horse and buggy. we just simply name them
old order -- drive the horse and buggy, and
the new order -- drive the automobiles. They
have electric, they have meeting houses and
they don't have green shades."
But many traditions remain. Amish children
attend one-room schoolhouses through grade
eight and farming is the mainstay of Amish
life. There are normally two horses on a farm
for buggies. Several mules are kept for
farming. Milking is one of the most important
sources of income on the farm.
Many Amish leaders believe their separation
from the outside world strengthens their
community. And that community is thriving.
Despite what many on the outside would
describe as a backwards lifestyle, the Amish
population in Lancaster County has almost
tripled over the past half century. Tags : Lancaster Amish |
