Magical Princess Minky Momo
(魔法のプリンセスミンキーモモ,
Mahō no Princess Minky Momo?), également
connu sous le nom de Magical Princess Gigi ou
Gigi (France), est le titre de deux
différentes séries d'animation japonaise de
magical girl.
La première série, souvent appelée Sora
Momo (« Momo du ciel »), a été diffusée
au Japon en 1982-1983. La seconde série,
souvent appelée Umi Momo (« Momo de la mer
»), a été diffusée à partir de 1991. Ces
deux séries sont respectivement la première
et la troisième série de magical girl
créées par le studio japonais Ashi
Productions.
Gigi n'est pas une terrienne, elle est en
vérité la fille des monarches d'un royaume
féérique, un couple assorti curieusement :
un p'tit gars hystérique et une grande femme
majestueuse. Ce royaume dépend curieusement
de la volonté des terriens à croire à la
magie et à la féérie. Malheureusement
depuis quelques temps, les terriens ont perdu
foi en la magie. Aussi Gigi a-t-elle été
déléguée sur Terre pour redonner espoir
aux terriens. Grâce à la magie, elle
devient la fille des vétérinaires. Son but
est alors très simple : redonner l'espoir à
tout ceux qu'elle pourra croiser. Pour ce
faire, Gigi dispose d'une baguette magique
qui lui permet de se métamorphoser
instantanément en une jeune fille de 18 ans,
ayant des connaissances dans de multiples
domaines tels que la médecine, le sauvetage
en mer ou la conduite sportive...
