| Homemade Gramophone / Vinyl Record Player (Phonograph) |
 |
From http://www.josepino.com - This is my
home-made gramophone using just a plastic
cup, a pin and some Lego Mindstorms parts.
The pin picks the sound from the vinyl disk
and the plastic cup amplifies the sound. A
paper cup works fine, a foam cup also works
but I didn't like the results.
The plastic cup amplifies the high-frequency
tones but not the lower-frequencies, so I did
put a napkin inside the cup to reduce the
higher frequencies. Using softer materials
may help to get lower frequencies amplified.

| Gramophone: Wir fahren gegen Engelland |
 |
This is an old german WW-II propaganda-song.
Called "Matrosenlied" or "Wir fahren gegen
Engelland". It was already wrote by Hermann
Loehns in WW-I, but it become far more
popular in WW-II. It was the inoffical song
of the german U-Boat crews in WW-II. It was
used in the german propaganda-movie "U-Boote
westwaerts!" (1941) in the end-credits too.
The record was made in 1939 and is in a good
condition. Played by "Reichsmusikzug des
Reichsarbeitsdienstes mit Chor",
Obermusikzugfuehrer Herms Niel, Polydor
11357.
Today, it is one of the many "Nazi-Songs"
banned by the government here in germany. But
nobody can forbid someone to play an old
original- record of it. The copyrights are
expired. I bought this record together with
the gramophone on a flea-market. It is a
piece of history, even it is a somber part of
the history of germany.
Here are the german lyrics:
Heute wollen wir ein Liedlein singen,
trinken wollen wir den kuehlen Wein
und die Glaeser sollen dazu klingen,
denn es muss, es muss geschieden sein.
Gib mir deine Hand, deine weisse Hand,
leb wohl, mein Schatz, lebe wohl, mein
Schatz, leb wohl.
Gib mir deine Hand, deine weisse Hand,
leb wohl, mein Schatz, lebe wohl, mein
Schatz, leb wohl.
Gib mir deine Hand, deine weisse Hand,
leb wohl, mein Schatz, lebe wohl, mein
Schatz, leb wohl.
Lebe wohl, denn wir fahren, denn wir fahren,
denn wir fahren gegen Engeland, Engeland! Tags : gramophone grammophon 78rpm propaganda german record music world war two u-boat submarine hermann loehns u-boot |

| Mr. Christmas Dancing Ballroom Music Box Gramophone |
 |
This Mr. Christmas Gold Label slightly used
but in brilliant condition collector's item
is a dark wooden box with dancing ball room.
The gamophone projects the christmas classics
of Jingle Bells, Silent Night, White
Christmas, We Wish You a Merry Christmas,
Here Comes Santa Claus, Over the Rainbow, The
Entertainer, Chariots of Fire, Lara's Theme
and Braham's Lullaby.
While the music playing, five couples of
holiday ballet dancers from the nineteenth
century in the box gracefully twirl to the
rhythm. The top of the music box has a clear
window to watch the old fashioned authentic
disc player as it creats music. You can
watch as comb teet pick at the discs to
create the classical music. The 14" x 7"
inches holiday necessity includes an A/C
adapter, ten gold discs of holiday classics,
and a cas to fill all the discs for storage.
(The front right base leg has broken off. As
you can see from the photos the box sits just
fine and it is hardly noticeable.) Tags : Mr. Christmas Dancing Ballroom Music Box Gramophone |

| Electrola Gramophone, build in the 1930s |
 |
This is an old gramophone that i found on a
flea-market. I cleaned the motor, that was
stuck with old grease, repaired some minor
damages an bought new needles. After all, it
works again.
The gramophone was build sometime in the late
1920s or early 1930. I found some infos on
the WWW, and it seems build in germany under
the licence of "Gramophone Company" (His
Masters Voice). The motor is stamped "Made by
the Gramophone-Company, Middlesex, England".
The record is "Du und ich, ich und Du", Harry
Steier mit Ensemble und Orchesterbegleitung,
