| Barbados vs Grenada (Shell Caribbean Cup 1994) |

Un partido normal... aparentemente. Era el
último partido del triangular de primera
fase y para pasar a la siguiente fase,
Barbados tenÃa que ganar por 2 goles de
diferencia y Granada pasarÃa aún perdiendo
por 1 gol de diferencia. Las reglas del
torneo eran que si se acababa el partido en
empate habrÃa prorroga y penaltis y en caso
de ganar en proroga o penalti la victoria
equivaldrÃa a ganar por 2-0.
Barbados ganaba 2-1 a falta de 1 minuto y
como no veÃa que no conseguÃa el 3-1 para
clasificarse, se metió un gol en propia
puerta para ir a la prórroga. Los de Granada
se dieron cuenta de la treta de Barbados y
entonces intentaron marcar gol, daba igual la
porterÃa porque se clasificaban ganando o
perdiendo por un gol. Barbados entonces se
puso a defender las 2 porterias. y Granada no
tuvo tiempo de marcar un gol en cualquier
porteria.
En la prórroga, Barbados marcó el 3-2 y
pasó a la siguiente fase, ya que como estaba
estipulado, el resultado por ganar en
prórroga era 2-0, quedando eliminada
Granada.

Carib Indians inhabited Grenada when COLUMBUS
discovered the island in 1498, but it
remained uncolonized for more than a century.
The French settled Grenada in the 17th
century, established sugar estates, and
imported large numbers of African slaves.
Britain took the island in 1762 and
vigorously expanded sugar production. In the
19th century, cacao eventually surpassed
sugar as the main export crop; in the 20th
century, nutmeg became the leading export. In
1967, Britain gave Grenada autonomy over its
internal affairs. Full independence was
attained in 1974 making Grenada one of the
smallest independent countries in the Western
Hemisphere. Grenada was seized by a Marxist
military council on 19 October 1983. Six days
later the island was invaded by US forces and
those of six other Caribbean nations, which
quickly captured the ringleaders and their
hundreds of Cuban advisers. Free elections
were reinstituted the following year and have
continued since that time. Hurricane Ivan
struck Grenada in September of 2004 causing
severe damage.
