PAMPERING, TOO!
PHOENIX—When it comes to weddings, brides
and their maids seem to get all the
relaxation perks. From facials to massages,
from pedicures to slimming body treatments,
brides and her attendants enjoy a few moments
of relaxation to bond with each other and to
get the much-deserved stress-free moments
before the big day.
But what about the grooms? Don't they deserve
a little pampering before the big day, too?
Nowadays, more and more grooms are sharing
the responsibilities and stress of organizing
a wedding. And just like their brides, grooms
are also heading to day spas to seek some
relaxing body treatments to help them look
and feel their best on their wedding day.
Jeannie Marcelino, Spa Director for Suddenly
Slimmer Day Spa, located at 3313 E. Indian
School Rd., Phoenix, says that a growing
number of grooms have come in to enjoy some
of their spa treatment packages that help
alleviate the stress that comes with planning
a wedding.
Aside from the usual massages after a
grueling round of golf with their buddies,
grooms are making appointments for body wraps
that can help slim them down for their
wedding day. Grooms have become more
conscious about the appearance of their skin
that many of them are opting for deep-pore
cleansing facials and even microdermabrasion
to look as radiant as the bride. Finally,
grooms are not only thinking of their
appearance during the wedding, but after the
wedding as well. Waxing services for the
back, chest and eyebrows have become
commonplace for many grooms because they want
to look neat during their honeymoon, usually
in some place tropical.
Spa services for grooms start from $25 (for
eyebrow shaping) to $85 for facials and
massages. Body treatments, such as the body
wraps, can start from $15 to $140. Suddenly
slimmer Day Spa also offers packages for the
