This what I do and why I have balding patches
on my head.
I have a disorder called Trichotillomania it
means compulsive hair pulling.
I can't stop it and it has gotten better over
the years. Please realize that I DON'T WANT
to do this. I've been made fun of because of
it and people think I'm lazy and I'm not.
When I'm like this, it's like I'm in a
trance, I'm
aware that time is passing and people are
talking to me, I can talk back to them and I
am very coherent.
An hour can pass by and it feels like only 20
minutes have passed by.
I run the hair along my lips. Tags :grossrealtruenotfakemedicalconditionKatyhairpullingOCD

Scientists at Duke University Medical Center
have found evidence that trichotillomania, a
psychiatric disorder that causes people to
compulsively pull their hair, has a basis in
genetics.
Trichotillomania is an impulse control
disorder that affects 3 to 5 percent of the
population. It is often accompanied by other
psychiatric conditions such as anxiety,
depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and
Tourette syndrome.
