| CINE - Collaborative Immersive Networked Environment |
 |
CINE 2.0 (Collaborative Immersive Networked
Environment, pronounced "sign")
www.StudioIMC.com
A mixed media environment inspired by Star
Trek: TNG's Holodeck. Multiple users fly
through an urban datascape in an immersive
environment by using body gestures.
Participants in the environment can also
collaborate to compose music while
participants in the real city can send
photographs from their cell phones to the
environment.
Artists: James Tunick, Miro Kirov, and
Houston Riley with Tony Rizzaro and Braden
Weeks Earp
CINE takes the computer screen out of the box
and reconfigures it as a life-size
environment in the room. Control of visuals
and sound takes place through full-body
gestures rather than just fingers tips. As
the traditional computer screen and
mouse-keyboard interface transforms to fill
the room, it invites collaboration between
multiple users, setting up the potential for
a whole new worlds of learning, art,
creativity, play, and entertainment. Tags : collaborative immersive networked environment virtual reality fullbody gaming music composition multimedia installation |

| "MultiPOD" from Xische-MultiSell - Immersive interaction |
 |
The MultiPOD has been conceptualized by
Xische-MultiSell http://www.xm.ae and is
particularly suited for immersive interaction
in Public Spaces.
Prospective users would be real estate
developers, hotels, car manufacturers or any
other suppliers that needs to present a
conceptual product that requires immmersive
interaction because the product may not yet
exist.
It's optimized for Public Spaces and
highfootfall locations such as Exhibitions,
shopping malls, showrooms and even product
launches.
The technology is based on large Lumin 360
degree screens with both side view. The
aspect ratio is ultra wide and about 32:18
and curved to 180 degrees. Content are
developed through a 3D gaming platform and
interactive content controlled by MultiPoint
gesture recognition or trackball. Version 2.0
will include an omni directional treadmill
such as used by NASA for astronaut training
on the floor enabling physical walk-through
as well.
The viability of MultiPOD is due to its
natural interaction and absence of
traditional input devices such as mouse,
keyboard, touchscreen, glove, glasses, VR
helmet, wires etc. It''s all about natural
interaction without mechanical interfaces.
MultiPOD can be integrated into an
environment such as an exhibition booth or
sales showroom.
The screens uses 3 x DLP 3-Chip projectors
cross beaming with Warp and edgeblending.
MultiPOD, MultiScreens and MultiPoint is all
integralparts of MultiSell's family of
interactive surfaces called MultiSpace
Surface Systems. Complete rooms & spaces can
be made interactive with walls, floors table
tops, bars and other integral surfaces of a
room "talking" to each other - with human and
machine interacting naturally and no gadgets
in between. Single-Touch or Multi-Touch
options.

| SGS2008: Casual MMOs and Immersive Worlds |

Many so-called "casual MMOs" and immersive
worlds are casual only in the sense that the
point of the game is not to bash gruesome
looking monsters or the game isn't set in a
sci-fi fantasy world. The engagement story
around existing and upcoming casual MMOs is
real and very compelling. This panel will
discuss what it takes to build a successful
