Crazy Rockers
"Crazy Rocker" Woody Brunings and "Black
Dynamite" Harry Koster reminiscing about the
early days of Indorock all the way back in
the 50's.
Dutch Indorockers were responsible for
introducing live rock & roll music in the
fifties in such European countries as the
Netherlands and Germany (where they were
admired by many GI's and unknown British
bands such as the Beatles for instance). They
were best known for their hot instrumentals
and their extremely spectacular live shows
(showtimes) in which Indorockers were
throwing their guitars high in the air,
playing the guitars behind their backs or
high in their necks and also played the
guitars with their feet or their teeth.
Keep in mind: that was long before someone
like Jimi Hendrix did. Needless to say that
Indorockers were hated by TV and Radio
officials for being way too raw, but were at
the same time very much loved by the
audience. Some names of these now legendary
Indorock bands are for example the Tielman
Brothers, the Black Dynamites, the Crazy
Rockers, the Real Room Rockers, Oety & his
Real Rockers and the Javalins. Tags : indorock indo rock black dynamites crazy rockers woody brunings harry koster ramona beatles ventures elvis chuck berry |

Holland.
They ultimately became proud 1st prize

The Black Dynamites/Los Indonesios
The band started somewhere in the mid 50's
and was best known for their raw musical
sound and on stage energy combined with crazy
showtimes.
The Black Dynamites recorded their legendary
first instrumental single Ready To Rock (b/w
Gone Gone Away) in 1959 for the Delahaye
record company.
They became very populair and headlined the
famous Dutch Muziek Expres festivals.
They also released a second single in 1960,
Brush Those Tears/Lonely Cissy (which was
released on Top Rank records).
The Black Dynamites - Los Indonesios left
Holland in 1960 to play the many German rock
& roll clubs in cities like Frankfurt,
Hamburg, Hanau, Berlin, Mannheim, etc. and
from there started touring all over Europe,
visiting such countries as Belgium, France,
Scandinavia, Switserland, Marocco, Spain,
etc.
In Spain they recorded the classic track
Olé, Cordobes! for their first Polydor e.p.
called Los Indonesios.

The Black Dynamites - Los Indonesios starred
in movies/recorded soundtracks with
superstars such as Concha Velasco, Rocio
Durcal and Claudine Coppin.
They also won the 1st prize at the Festival
De Leon.
The Festival De Leon was broadcasted
nationally on TVE and thanks to that the
Black Dynamites - Los Indonesios would gain
huge populairity.
In 1970 they left for Africa. They played in
Swaziland and Johannesburg, but also in
Lesotho where they performed for King
Mosjoesjoe II and his wife. In 1974 they
moved to Gran Canaria.
In 1977 they finally went back to Holland,
the country where it all started for the
Black Dynamites - Los Indonesios.
They continued playing there up 'till this
very day.

The Ventures vs. Indorock (The Black
Dynamites - Honky Tonk
Beware: although it states Ventures vs.
Indorock it's NOT about one being better than
the other at all!
Because both the Ventures as well as these
Indorock bands are fantastic in their own
right and no doubt have long paid their dues.
It's about the difference between the music
of the Ventures and Indorock music.
Of course both the Ventures and Indorock have
so much in common (instrumental repertoire,
both started in the 50's, their love for rock
& roll as well as many other musical styles
including jazz, country & western, hawaiian
music, etc.) and therefore many times the
Ventures music and Indorock music have been
compared to each other.
However, there is a significant difference
between the two.
Even when playin' the same songs, the musical
approach is very different.
Instead of endlessly tryin' to explain what
perhaps is unexplainable, I just figured it
might be wiser to let you all experience the
difference yourselves by postin' a few of
these songs side by side.
I always start off with the Ventures first
and directly after that follows the
Indorockin' version of that same song.
