| Safari in Kenya |
 |
Here is a video clip from my safari in Kenya.
The video was filmed at three locations:
Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Samburu. I used
a Canon ZR-20 miniDV camera and edited and
mixed with Apple's iMovie. The video begins
with a sunrise hot air balloon ride and
transitions to highlights from the trip. The
beautiful song is Serengeti (Bliss Mix) by
Infernal. Tags : safari kenya masai mara |

| Imagine! Kenya sings for India |
 |
Leading film-makers are seeking to change the
way we think about other countries. This is
one of a powerful series of films to be shown
on Pangea Day, May 10, "the day the world
comes together through film".
See all six anthems. Then visit
http://www.pangeaday.org and register your
screening for May 10. It's time to imagine a
different world.
Here, set against the backdrops of Nairobi
city and the beautiful landscape of Uhuru
Park (Maasai country), a Kenyan choir sings
the Indian national anthem.
The director has chosen the Indian anthem
because Kenya is home to a sizeable Indian
population (including Sikhs & Jains also) of
approximately 2.5 million, most of them
descendants of the East African Railways
labourers who were brought over by the
British during the late 19th and early 20th
centuries when the British colonialists ruled
Kenya and the rest of the East African
region.

| Obama's Village - Kenya |
 |
August 2008
Thrust into the spotlight and aiming to
become one of the world's most powerful
people, it is hard to imagine that Barak
Obama's roots lie in what can only be
described as an extremely humble Kenyan
village.
Here we meet the family members and
characters that have served to shape Barak's
early life. Mama Sara, Barak's grandmother,
tells us "Barack is a son of this village.
He's a very kind man. He loves development.
He likes peace and he loves me." We also
learn of the hopes and aspirations of the
villagers, along with the future developments
in Kenya that the senator may bring. Tags : barack obama africa kenya family presidential elections president roots journeyman pictures |

October 2003
Ever wondered what happens to your footwear
after you're finished with it? This week's
award-winning and startlingly original
documentary traces the fantastic journey of
Africa's most popular shoes: the flip-flop.
Easily bought, quickly discarded, the
flip-flop stands as a symbol of the summer
holiday for millions of westerners. But in
its African homeland, it undergoes a series
of versatile transformations. Filmed over a
two year period, this startling and uplifting
film takes an ingenious look at the lifecycle
of the flip-flop. It's especially noteworthy
for the beauty of its photography and
editing. We guarantee you will have never
seen anything like it. Tags : flip flops flopsam kenya africa art journeyman pictures journey popular shoes |

| Rising food prices in Kenya |
 |
This short film features people in Kenya who
have seen the price of staples such as maize,
beans and oil soar in the last two years.
Many families are now getting by on only one
meal a day. In the film, one woman says that
she often misses her meals altogether so she
can feed her children.
Concern is responding to this crisis. In the
Kerio Valley, we have successfully piloted a
programme that uses mobile phone technology
to give cash to the most vulnerable families
so they can buy food. Marsabit and Kalacha we
are working with partner agency Community
Initiatives Facilitation and Assistance
(Cifa) to help people manage the effects of
drought. Tags : Food Prices Concern Worldwide Kenya Drought Non-profit Ethiopia Somalia Hunger Emergency |
