In 2002, the international break dance bboy
scene witnessed moves unlike ANYTHING they
had ever seen. After Expression Crew won
Battle of the Year with their legendary

for three years with their unique style and
jaw-dropping power, and inspired a new
generation of bboy's worldwide.
To this day, Korean bboys continue to

the art.

US beef exports to South Korea could be
labeled with the age of the cows they came
from, as a way to ease concern over the
safety of the meat. The Seoul government is
reeling from mass protests over a deal to
resume US beef imports, but as Al Jazeera's
Step Vassen reports, South Koreans fearful of
mad cow disease are increasingly turning away
from beef altogether.

How do foreign women who marry Korean men
find living in Korean culture? The South
Korean city of Daegu holds an event to try
and help interracial couples start a new life
without suffering from social discrimination.
Let's take a look.
STORY:
The 'Meeting with Multi-Cultural families' is
organised by the True Love Voluntary Service
and sponsored by the Daegu City and Suseong
District Office. The society has been
organized to help the increasing number of
foreign women who marry Korean men to settle
into South Korea.
[Dongyoon Lee, Representative, True Love
Service]:
"Many foreigners are coming to Korea to live.
Our meeting's common cause is to give
opportunity for foreigners to settle down
quickly and do our best to help them as much
as we can. Many migrant women want to be a
Korean as soon as possible. Moreover, they
want their children to study hard and grow up
to be a respectable person without
experiencing prejudice."
Members of the True Love Voluntary Service
help the migrant brides to set up a
sisterhood with other migrant women.
[Jeongsuk Jang, True Love Voluntary Service]:
"I came to this event to help take good care
of multi-cultural families. An opportunity
like this gives me a chance to look after
foreigners and because I really want to help
them to settle down well."
Foreign women laugh heartily together,
leaving behind the loneliness of living away
from home.
[Hyoyoung Sohn , Chinese Bride]:
"I feel so good today. I came here with
another migrant family. Thanks to the Suseong
District Office for sponsoring this event."
[Nakayama Yoko, Japanese Bride]:
"I'm very happy to participate in this event.
I didn't know that there were so many
foreigners living near us. Now I can make
friends with other people. I think this event
is really helpful to foreigners."
Korean society prides themselves in the
unbroken 5,000-year-history of a monoculture
population. But, according to recent
statistics one out of ten people marry a
person of a different nationality. In this
social change, a rapidly increasing
multicultural population is causing waves in
the still very conservative Korean culture.
