transmission lines away from their fair town.

| Cedric Benson Boating Drunk - Then Waterboarded by cops? |

Former University of Texas football star
Cedric Benson, now a running back with the
Chicago Bears, was arrested on charges of
boating while intoxicated and resisting
arrest on Saturday night on Lake Travis.
According to a timeline provided by the Lower
Colorado River Authority, LCRA officers made
initial contact with Benson on his boat about
9 p.m. on Saturday night during a random
safety inspection. He was carrying between 12
and 15 passengers.
Officers administered a field sobriety "float
test," which Benson failed. Police officers
said Benson presented himself as a threat and
argued about whether or not they had the
right to take him to land to conduct a
follow-up field sobriety test. Officers
attempted to put Benson into a life jacket
for transportation. When Benson continued to
resist arrest, the offers used pepper spray
to subdue Benson. Officers decided to arrest
Benson.
Once the LCRA boat docked, Benson continued
to argue with officers, refusing to leave the
boat and had to removed from the boat and
dragged to a deputy car for transport. At
Travis County Central Booking, Benson was
offered an breath test and refused to take
it.
Benson is being charged on two counts --
Boating While Intoxicated and Resisting
Arrest. No other football players were
identified as passengers on Benson's boat.
