Robert Joseph "Bob" Cousy (born August 9,
1928 in New York City) is a former American
professional basketball player. The 6'1", 175
lbs. Cousy played point guard with the
National Basketball Association's (NBA)
Boston Celtics from 1951 to 1963 and briefly
with the Cincinnati Royals in the 1969-70
season. Born to French immigrants, Cousy had
a highly successful career with the Celtics,
winning six championship rings, being voted
into 13 All-Star and 12 All-NBA First and
Second Teams and winning the NBA Most
Valuable Player Award in 1957.
In his first 11 NBA years, Cousy won eight
consecutive assist titles and introduced a
new blend of ball-handling and passing
skills, earning him the nicknames "The Cooz"
and "Houdini of the Hardwood".After his
player career, he coached the Royals for
several years, even making a short comeback
for the Royals at age 41, and finally became
a broadcaster for Celtics games. He was
elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame in
1971, and in his honor, the Celtics retired
his number 14 jersey and hung it into the
rafters of the Boston Garden, where it has
remained since.Cousy was named to the NBA
25th Anniversary Team in 1971, NBA 35th
Anniversary Team in 1981, and NBA 50 Greatest
Players in 1996, being one of only four
players that were selected into all those
teams. Today, Cousy serves as Marketing
Consultant of the Celtics.

SMALL BIO -
After two successful seasons with the Bulls,
during which he received the NBA Rookie of
the Year Award in 2000, Brand was traded to
the Los Angeles Clippers in 2001 for Brian
Skinner and the draft rights to Tyson
Chandler. In Los Angeles, Brand became the
first Clipper since Danny Manning (in 1994)
to be selected to the All-Star team. As much
as Brand shone through his first years in Los
Angeles, however, the Clippers still remained
among the worst franchises in the NBA and all
of American sports. When Brand became a
restricted free agent in 2003, the Miami Heat
dangled an offer worth $82 million over six
years. In what was an unprecedented move by
team owner Donald Sterling, the Clippers
matched Miami's offer and managed to keep
Brand a Clipper. Prior to this, the biggest
contract Sterling had approved to that point
was a five-year, $15 million deal for Eric
Piatkowski in 1998.In the 2006 NBA season,
Brand experienced a personal renaissance. He
posted career-highs in points per game (24.7)
and field-goal percentage (52.7), while
leading the Clippers to a 47-35 record, good
enough for the sixth seed in the Western
Conference. In February 2006, Brand was
selected to the 2006 NBA All-Star Game as a
reserve forward for the West. As a result of
his individual prowess and the Clippers'
recent success, many analysts believed that
he was a strong candidate for Most Valuable
Player for the 2006 season. Steve Nash went
on to win the award. On April 22, 2006, Brand
made his playoff debut scoring 21 points
against the Denver Nuggets. On May 1, Brand
helped lead the team to its first playoff
series win since 1976, when the team was
known as the Buffalo Braves. Although the
Clippers eventually lost in game 7 against
the Phoenix Suns, the Clippers had the best
season that their franchise had ever seen.
Brand received the Joe Dumars Trophy after
being named the 2005-06 NBA Sportsmanship
Award winner.Despite an amazing 05-06 season,
Brand regressed a little bit in the following
06-07 season. His point average went down and
his team missed the playoffs.

Biography
Posey attended and played basketball at
Chamberlin Middle School and Chamberlin High
School in Twinsburg, Ohio. He grew up with
Tennessee Titans cornerback Kelly Herndon who
also went to Chamberlin. Posey was selected
out of Xavier University by the Denver
Nuggets with the 18th pick of the 1999 NBA
Draft. He played a little over three seasons
with the team before being sent to the
Houston Rockets in a three-team deal also
involving the Philadelphia 76ers on December
18, 2002. After finishing the season with the
Rockets, he signed with the Memphis Grizzlies
as a free agent in the 2003 off-season. On
August 2, 2005, Posey was involved in the
largest trade in NBA history, which involved
13 players and five different teams. Through
this trade, the Miami Heat acquired point
guard Jason Williams, forward Antoine Walker,
shooting guard Andre Emmett, and the draft
rights to Roberto Duenas. The Memphis
Grizzlies received shooting guard Eddie
Jones, and point guard Raul Lopez. Boston,
who dealt Walker to the Heat, received a
package that included Qyntel Woods, the draft
rights to Albert Miralles, two second-round
draft picks, and cash. The Boston Celtics
also picked up Curtis Borchardt. Utah was
able to acquire center Greg Ostertag, and the
New Orleans Hornets acquired small forward
Rasual Butler and shooting guard Kirk Snyder.
With the Heat, Posey won the first NBA
championship of his career in 2006. Posey
averaged 7.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game
in 2005-06. He is notable for his three-point
shooting ability. Posey had a somewhat
disappointing regular season with Miami, but
in the playoffs did more than expected. Now
being switched to the Heat's sixth man, Posey
was able to average 11.8 points per game on
48.8 shooting against Miami's first-round
opponent, the Chicago Bulls. Against Miami's
second-round opponent, the New Jersey Nets,
Posey was forced to play defense,
particularly guarding Vince Carter or Richard
Jefferson. Although Posey's scoring dropped,
his defense was said to have been the key to
the Heat's advancement into the conference
finals. Posey again had to focus on defense
against Miami's third-round opponent, the
Detroit Pistons, particularly guarding
Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and even
sometimes Chauncey Billups or Rasheed
Wallace. Posey was put to guard these players
because other Miami perimeter defenders have
other priorities. Dwyane Wade, for example,
focuses on offense more than defense, and
that is a huge reason why he averaged the
most points for his team. Other perimeter
players such as Jason Williams or Antoine
Walker are labeled poor defensive players and
would get taken advantage of have they been
challenged defensively. Against the Dallas
Mavericks, James Posey was a key factor on
both ends of the court. Defensively, he,
along with Udonis Haslem, provided tough
defense on the Mavericks All-Star, Dirk
Nowitzki. He also guarded Josh Howard, who
had caused problems for Miami when Antoine
Walker was guarding him. On the offensive
end, Posey played a huge role in knocking
down shots because Miami's All-Stars, Dwyane
Wade and Shaquille O'Neal, were often
double-teamed and needed to pass the ball. In
Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Posey hit a huge
shot to give Miami an 87-81 advantage with
four minutes remaining. In Game 4 of the
Finals, Posey was very impressive in Miami's
blowout, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10
rebounds. Head coach Pat Riley said he likes
the switch to have Posey come off the bench
(for most of the regular season, Riley would
have Posey start and Walker come off the
bench). However, it seems that both of the
players benefited from the change. On July 1,
2006, Posey opted to exercise his $6.4
million contract option, opting not to become
a free agent. On April 9, 2007, Posey was
arrested on a DUI charge and was taken to a
Miami-Dade County Prison.[1] However, Posey
continued playing with the Heat and coach Pat
Riley stated he would support Posey. On August
25, 2007,

Russell had his No. 6 jersey retired by the
Celtics in 1972, and he was inducted into the
Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in
1975. Russell, who had a difficult
relationship with the media (for reasons
stated below), was not present at either
event. After retiring as a player, Russell had
stints as head coach of the Seattle
SuperSonics (1973 to 1977) and Sacramento
Kings (1987 to 1988). His time as a coach was
lackluster; although he led the struggling
SuperSonics into the playoffs for the first
time in franchise history, Russell's
defensive, team-oriented Celtics mindset did
not mesh well with the team. Ironically,
coach Lenny Wilkens would later use a similar
concept to help the SuperSonics win the title
in 1979. Russell's stint with the Kings was
considerably worse, his last assignment
ending when the Kings went 17-41. Between
coaching stints, Russell worked as a color
commentator, but he was never comfortable as
a broadcaster.Russell also wrote books,
usually written as a joint project with a
professional writer. These included 1979s
Second Wind and 2001s Russell's Rules. After
spending several years outside the public
eye, Russell rose to prominence again in
January 2006, when he convinced Miami Heat
superstar center Shaquille O'Neal to bury the
hatchet with fellow NBA superstar and former
Los Angeles Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant, with
whom O'Neal had a bitter public feud.Later
that year, on November 17, 2006, the two-time
NCAA winner Russell was recognized for his
impact on college basketball as a member of
the founding class of the National Collegiate
Basketball Hall of Fame. He was one of five,
along with John Wooden, Oscar Robertson, Dean
Smith and Dr. James Naismith, selected to
represent the inaugural class.Russell on the
MVP controversy
An MVP does more than anyone else to help his
team win a championship.
— Bill Russell.
After criticism rained down on the two
consecutive MVP given to Steve Nash and a
potential third that would have vaulted him
into legendary status, Bill Russell made his
admiration of Nash public: "I think, on the
world stage, he's one of our great athletes
in all sports," Russell said. "I'm a big fan.
The two MVPs he got, he deserved. Part of the
reason that he's so good and so effective is
that the guys like playing with him. He
creates an atmosphere where they win games

1998 until 2000. As a sophomore, he led the
Gators to the 2000 NCAA Championship game,
losing to Michigan State. He hit perhaps the
most dramatic shot of the tournament that
year in the opening round versus Butler. As
the fifth-seeded Gators trailed by one to
underdog Butler, Miller drove to the basket
and laid it in as time expired. That summer,
he was taken with the 5th overall pick in the
NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic. Miller would
win the 2001 Schick Rookie of the Year Award
while being the only first-year player to
