From our visit in September, 2006. Towards
the end you'll see Thomas Jefferson's
tombstone, with the epitaph stating that he
was the author of the Declaration of
Independence, the Statute of Virginia for
Religious Freedom and the father of the
University of Virginia.
He never mentions his presidency.

annual Independence Day Celebration and
Naturalization Ceremony at the home of Thomas
Jefferson, Monticello, near Charlottesville,
Virginia. This is about 7 minutes from
Waterston's 22-minute speech. Also included
is the reading of the preamble to the
Declaration of Independence by John Charles
Thomas, a trustee of the Thomas Jefferson
Foundation.
