Gom TV MSL - Season 2
Round of 32 - Double Elimination
Group D - [Boxer, Nal_rA, Canata,
Firebathero]
Game 1 - Boxer vs Nal_rA
Nal_rA has had quite a busy schedule lately,
with the continually ongoing Proleague
matches, MSL, and more recently the Blizzard
WWI. Its up to anyone's imagination how
these players get ready for their matches.
But now Kang Min finds himself playing the
Terran Emperor, whom he just played 2 days
earlier in the Proleague. Nal_rA won that
match.

| Arena MSL Group Selection [24 April, 2008] |
 |
I myself have decided to only upload part 1
of Arena MSL Selection 2008 for
입장식(入場式) an opening ceremony into
the new LOOX MBCgame center outside.
Only thirty-two players who're ranked from
No.16 to No.1 in the last GomTV MSL Season 4
and 16 survivors who have hanged ten in the
Minor League, step in the round 32 tournament
of the new Arena MSL 2008.
As you know, it's difficult to predict who
will win because there are five or six dark
horses in the round 32 of this Arena MSL
tournament.
Despite Jaedong was a favortie to win, he
didn't not even make to the Round 16 of EVER
OSL 2008. Therefore, he has already braced
himself for having a lock on Arena MSL
Champion to hold his fort who already did
taste MSL blood. Will Jaedong who's a lonly
Royal-Loader win three straight gold medals
on MSL ?
Bisu[Shield] who did miss a chance to keep
the throne against InteR.Mind in the last MSL
Season 3 Finals and lost again Jaedong and
Luxury in the Round 32 of the last MSL Season
4, must recover the past protoss territory. I
think Bisu[Shield] will come into the
spotlight to be or not to be..
sAviOr dashed away our hope when he lost
against Sea.ruBy and Siz)KaL in the Round 32
of MSL Season 4, and he had a terrible
experience to relinquish the throne to
Bisu[Shield] when the MSL Season 1 finals
began. I personally hope that he will do his
best to meet a challenge against Bisu[Shield]
to gain his reputation.
InteR.Mind, he has been younger only to taste
the sweets of the throne of MSL Season 3 and
bitters of leaving out against Jaedong when
it went on to the semifianls, MSL Season 4.
I think Mind wouldn't jump up over the round
8 because he would come across on survivors
from Group H, FlaSh and Kwanro[sAM] even
though he could get on the round 16.
You know what every cloud has a silver lining
just like FBH winning ceremony in spite of
the fact that your favotire players taste the
bitterness of defeat against someone or
whomever you meet..
Korean StarCraft fans, StarCraft lovers and
StarCraft communities in the world, are
waiting to see who will go up in the round 16
for surviving the MSL Battle in the face of
fierce competition.

| Bisu[Shield] vs Stork[gm] @ MSL Finals (Game 5) |
 |
GOMTV (Season2) MSL Finals, Saturday 14th
July, 2007
Stork[gm] vs Bisu[Shield] @ Loki
I wasn't going to upload the finals, but I
got many requests to specifically upload the
fifth game of the MSL finals in a one part
video (I guess so people can send one easy
link to friends), so here it is :-)
Stork plays white @ 2
Bisu plays yellow @ 7
There's also the awards ceremony at the end.
But I highly recommend Klaz's commentary of
the finals, the video quality is quite good
as well, he used the same source as this one
I'm using now, which unfortunately wasn't as
good as the usual HQ sources are (too dark I
think).. but its ok I guess. Anyway I see no
reason re-uploading all 5 games since Klaz
used the good source, and all his uploads are
2 parts which is fine, except this Game5 that
took 4 parts, so this upload is wise either
way :-) Here are Klaz's commented games (and
it is probablly his last commentary for the
time being, so enjoy it)

Translated by Nocturne, thanks a lot! :-)
To have a sudden change also contains within
a notion of changing history. The Protoss
have not emerged as a dominant force in the
history of the MSL, but Kim Taek Young has
cast that notion aside. For the first time in
MSL history, the Protoss have had appearances
in the finals two times in a row, but what's
more, they have won twice in a row - Kim Taek
Young has made his name "The Revolutionary
Protoss" known throughout all the world.
Rewriting MSL history, we had a winner's
interview with the player now known as "The
Revolutionary Protoss"
Q: This is the second straight time that you
have won in the finals. What are your
feelings?
A: I felt that the Ro32 was very far away (a
long way to go), but one game after another,
I am now here in the winner's seat. I am in
awe, and I am filled with pride. I had a lot
of added pressure from winning the MSL for
the second straight time, but now that it's
over, I feel great.
Q: How do you compare last time's finals with
this one?
A: At that time, it was the second appearance
in a major tournament, all the opponents I've
faced were difficult. I felt that this season
was a little easier to climb the ladder. But
the finals this time around were very
difficult.
Q: Right now, who is the person most on your
mind?
A: The people who helped me practice. I am
grateful to all of the MBC Game Hero
teammates, Park Jung-Suck ([Oops]Reach), Jang
Joo-Hyun ([Oops]Shield), Park Sae-Jung
(Sea.Pure), Sin Sang-Ho (SangHo[Shield]). And
to other team members. Park Yong Oon Coach
thought over/helped my practice a lot. Of
course, how to plan out my strategy, and get
rid of the many mosquitoes back at the team
house, essentially helping me to maintain my
condition (smiles). A lot of people helped me
together so I was able to win, I think.
Q: You have created a new "note" in history.
Do you know this fact?
A: Yes, I know. It is the first time that the
Protoss have won twice in a row. I am really
happy and I feel great. Because I'm young, I
feel that there is a lot of opportunity later
on (more tournaments/prizes and such), I want
to break the MSL jinx of only winning three
times in a row, but what's more, I want to go
for four times in a row.
Q: You won 3-2, barely. Which was your most
difficult set?
A: The third, fourth set were the most
difficult. The first, second set I prepared
my build order well, but my practice for the
third and fourth set were not so good. The
third set I responded in kind (?), but the
result came out well. Because of this, I was
able to carry it on to the fifth set.
Q: This season, there is a lot of talk that
you got to where you are due to luck.
A: I heard that Stork was not able to
research the dragoon range upgrade after the
tournament. Even to the finals, luck followed
me there. Even while I was fighting, I kept
losing each engagement, so I did not realize
that the range upgrade was not complete. It
was luck to me, but I think luck is also
skill, in some ways. It wasn't anything to do
with my fault, it was my opponents' mistake.
I did my best.
Q: Stork is a strong opponent, having a
winning record in this season's Proleague.
Actually fighting him, what are your
thoughts?
A: I felt he was a safe player, but he showed
a lot of strategic insight. He showed many
games that would not be normally made
(essentially, Stork demonstrated never before
thought to occur strategies). To be honest, I
was taken aback by Stork's strategy. In the
final set, we both opted for safe
strategy/planning, but I won.
Q: What do you think the outcome could have
been? (Or what do you honestly think about
the score)
A: I never thought about 3-2. I only thought
let's go 3-0 finish it early and go home. The
first set was easily done, so even though we
went to the fifth set, I knew I was in the
advantage.
Q: The second, fourth set were on more
strategically oriented maps.
A: The way I see it, there are no
strategically oriented maps. I practiced
mostly on a macro build, but at the time of
the tournament, I had thoughts of changing my
build order, and I did change them. For
instance, I won the third set because I
utilized strategy more than my opponent.
Q: Any words to Stork?
A: Last season, the practice partner I had
was Stork in the Ro4 elimination against
Nal_rA. After that, my practice partner was
Stork again in preparation for my match
against Much in the Proleague. I feel that he
is also a fellow companion who will create a
new era of the Protoss.
Q: Your personal thoughts on today's matches.
A: I'm satisfied. I practiced a lot, and the
results were good. I'm a little sad that I
wasn't able to show more on the fourth set,
Monty Hall.
Q: Any future goals/determinations?
A: I would like to be the fans' most favorite
gamer. I would like to be totally different,
a new player for the fans, and I want them to
love me. Sometimes, there may be some boring
matches, but to the best of my ability, I
want to show matches with a lot of "color."
Q: You created a sensation this season using
scouts. What is your next unit?
A: This season, I did use a lot of scouts
because scouts are the worst Protoss unit, in
my opinion. Now that Dark Archons have been
standardized in play, I don't think there are
any more units. But I will utilize scouts the
next time I want to use them (smiles).
Q: Your thoughts on the next season.
A: The MSL players who won twice in a row
have gone on to win for the third time in a
row (iloveOov, [Red]NaDa, sAviOr). This time,
I would like that player to be me. Since I am
Protoss, the fights may be more difficult,
but if I have the fans' belief, I believe I
can win for the third time in a row.
Q: A word to your fans who came out tonight.
A: All of them stood up and began to
congratulate me. This is what it feels like
to win, I thought again. I would like to
experience that next season.
Q: You received the most prize money ever in
an individual league tournament - 500 million
won (More than 50,000$ US).
A: There are a lot of places to use this
money. If a lot of people ask me to buy
something for them, I will buy it for them at
any time. I will buy something for my
teammates, and after I help the people who
helped me, I would like to give the rest to
my parents.
Q: Any last words?
A: Father, mother, brother, family, coach,
staff, thank you so much. (I'm not sure what
this next one is..) But I would like to say
thank you to you too. To the fans who came
out and supported me, I am most thankful.
***
Interview with Bisu's father, translated by
infinity21 for TeamLiquid.net, very cool
stuff :-)
Q: Your son has won twice in a row.
A: My son is the best. I am so proud of him,
and proud to be his father. I knew before the
matches began that my son would win.
Q: Is there any special inkling that made you
believe your son would win?
A: Taek Young, compared to other players, is
not as nervous. If you stand in front of a
massive audience in the finals tournament,
there are many cases of nervousness, but Taek
Young isn't as nervous. Taek Young also told
me that before the match, he had a lot of
confidence. I believed my son.
Q: The matches went to the fifth and final
set. Didn't you worry?
A: Is there any parent who would not worry
about his own child? During the game, there
were some difficult moments, but I believed
my son to win in the end, and finally, he did
it. I'm very proud of him.
Q: How do you plan to spend dinner tonight?
A: If Taek Young has some time, I would like
for the whole family to gather and have a
meal together. But he has another show match
in a few days, so I don't know if he has
time. If he is busy, at least the rest of the
family can get together and congratulate his
success.
Q: MBC Game Hero has entered the Proleague
post season. Do you want your son to do well
in the Proleague as well?
A: Of course, I wish my son to do well in the
Proleague. In MBC Game Hero, there are many
good players other than my son - I firmly
believe that they will do well.
Q: Finally, if there is any last world to the
fans of your son.
A: To the fans who love and care for my son -
thank you so much. I cannot express fully my
thanks in words - I almost feel sorry. In the
future, please love, care, and support my
son, thank you so much. Tags : Starcraft Broodwar Bisu[Shield] Stork[gm] MSL Finals GOMTV GOMTV2 |

January 04, 2007
GOMTV MSL
Round of 16 - Losers
With the OSL, MSL, and SKY over, the
StarCraft scene is begining to quiet down.
And so I became bored and started looking
through my old VODs, and found this very nice
match between Bisu(P) and Canata(T) in the
MSL Ro16 Losers. Up till this point, the
young protoss hadn't had much exposure to the
MSL, but still maintained a good PvT record
at 3-0. Also notice how Bisu opted for the
quick expo, the same build he would use
against Savior(Z) in the MSL Finals. The
first 10 minutes is just the macro stage,
then the fun begins. The loser of this match
would go into the Survivor League.
This game should hold out until the Shinhan
Masters are played again. Enjoy.

| Nal_Ra vs JulyZerg @ MSL (Game 2 & 3) |
 |
MSL Ro16, Best of 3, June 7th 2007
Game 2 @ Monty Hall
Game 3 @ Loki
Game 1 was played on June 2nd:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9XRuSn6yG8
When I read that Nal_Ra and July will be
playing at Ro16 I was pissed :/ I hate when
oldschoolers like these two have to face each
other in an elimination round, first Nal_Ra
and BoxeR, now this... And there's no escape
from Ro16, no Loser Brackets to fall on. The
good thing is that you can always expect
great games from these two.
Well as it turns out, there actually is a
sudden chance for one of the 8 losers,
because OverSky is enlisting to the army in 1
month, he has to quit MSL, and since he beat
TT 2-0, one of the 8 losers will have to fill
his spot now. 1/8 however is quite the
longshot. So far TT, Stork and iloveOov, to
that list will be joinning the loser of this
Bo3, and the losers of Sea vs GoRush, XellOs
vs 910 and Hwasin vs Sheis)
Why couldn't July get someone like TT? and rA
get someone like 910? that would have been
perfect :-) I'd then happily see July and rA
facing in Ro8, play a great set and hopefuly
the loser would make it out of LBs... But it
wasn't ment to be, and the draw says either
July or Nal_Ra, one of them is going home,
leaving 1 finger and a quarter hanging in
WildCard group :-)
Nal_Ra is known as a MSL beast, he's made it
into the last 3 MSL semi-finals in a row,
made it to the Pringles MSL Finals (March to
July 2006) where he lost to sAviOr in the
finals. And of course lets not forget
Nal_Ra's picture is hanging right there on
the wall- the MSL hall of fame, Champion of
Stout MSL 2003 where he beat NaDa in the
finals.
JulyZerg on the other hand, is a OSL type of
guy :-) But he has one thing going for him
that no other player has more than him right
now, the hunger! And you may laugh :-) but I
don't mean his hunger for burgers, it is the
hunger for victory that drives him now, more
than ever, or at least needless to say more
than he had since 2005. If you haven't read
about the July MBC Waiver (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aF-i8icXxY ),
well July is now part of SKT1... MBC are
probablly already crying in shame about
dropping July, it was a mistake! They never
thought he'd make it this far in the first
place, they got greedy and tried to
ridicilously cut his payment. But he proved
them so wrong, and SKT1 scorred big time by
taking July under their wings, already
wearing SKT1 uniform in Ro16. This was part
of July's fuel, and thats what he has over
Nal_Ra right now, the fire! Of course Nal_Ra
wants to win, but he can't possibly (with his
overall good record and steady success over a
long period of time) want this more than
July, no, July needs this for a hundred
different reasons.
Ro8 is huge, when you had to face the names
these two had to face to get here, Nal_Ra and
JulyZerg had really tough games! Some players
get lucky groups... simple current example is
910 (had to beat Keke and Go.Go to advance...
I mean please) and now he gets XellOs at
Ro16, could the guy get any more lucky? Well
in every season there are those lucky ones,
but just compare that with July and Ra's and
you'll see, that for July (had iloveOov,
Chalrenge and NaDa in his group) and Nal_Ra
(had BoxeR, Canata and FireBatHero in his
group), for them making it to Ro8 already
says volumes! it says elite! That is what pro
teams look at when they hunt for talent, when
they plan Proleague strategy, when they chose
ace players.
If a player gets to Semi-Finals with the
easiest road possible, that won't even be
remembered next season, but when Nal_Ra or
July get to Ro8 with that kind of record
behind their path, its already burned in our
memories, and next season you'll see (even if
the winner falls at Ro8) people talking in
forums about "Yes but he played very well
last season, impressive games vs x.." etc
etc.
So thats that, enjoy the games :-)
And I personally will be cheering for the
loser of this set, to advance from the
wildcard group. Tags : Starcraft Broodwar JulyZerg Nal_Ra MSL Ro16 MBCgame MBC Starleague PvZ ZvP Kang Min |

GOMTV MSL
Finals - Best of 5
Savior 0:2 Bisu - Game 3
Last week, Savior destroyed NaDa(T) 3-1 in
the OSL Finals. As a result, he became the
first person to reach 6 consecutive major
league finals. Today, Savior is in the MSL
Finals, playing for his 4th title against
none other than Bisu(P) who has never even
made an MSL appearance before.
Savior's ZvP matchups have always been his
forte, with an amazing win ratio of about
83%. But even that didn't stop Bisu from
taking the first 2 games. Now in the third
game, and with the score at 0-2, Bisu only
needs to take one more game to claim his
first MSL title.

.
We have all witnessed many of Savior's
matches, but the one matchup that mattered
the most ended a bit differently. Bisu
(especially for a protoss) did the
unthinkable against the Maestro by crushing
him 3-0, which was completely unexpected.
This was like defeating Boxer or July in
their prime.
The following is an interview with Bisu after
his win, translated by rinizim from
teamliquid.net
-You have won in your first attempt at MSL.
▶ I am so happy I have defeated the current
'bonjwa' Ma Jae Yoon. During New Year's
holiday, (Kim) Dong Hyun Hyung really helped
me a lot staying at the dorm the whole time.
I would also like to thank all others who
helped with my training. I did not focus too
much on the Royal Road, since MSL never had
one. I am surprised I have become the one to
achieve Royal Road.
-You crushed the opponent with 3:0.
▶During the training, I discovered a good
build against Zerg. For that, I was also
disheartened (when I lost during practice
using this build), stumbling across thoughts
like "I really can't lose like this
tomorrow". I guess I was able to win, because
Ma Jae Yoon chose builds that are relatively
easy to deal with instead of difficult ones.
No one else believed I'd win 3:0 except
myself (smile). I think I showed them real
good, winning it 3:0 (smile).
-You are the youngest league champion in the
history.
▶I am more happy I am the youngest league
champion. I also feel pressured to make more
new records, but nonetheless I will win more
leagues making more and more records.
-When did you think you can win the league?
▶After the first set, I thought I could
win. Ma Jae Yoon seemed very tense. His
coordinations (in critical situations) were
not his usual responses. Also in third set,
it seemed as if Ma Jae Yoon did not perform
his fullest potential in his play.
-How do you feel now as a champion?
▶I thought (Park) Sung Joon Hyung was
really cool when he won a league last time.
At that time, I thought 'I want to stand on
that pedestal'. Having won a league, I can
now understand the exuberance Sung Joon hyung
must have felt at the time. I will carry this
on to catch up to Sungjoon hyung's
championship career.
-Were you not particularly nervous, because
it was Ma Jae Yoon?
▶Undoubtedly, I was very pressured. Not to
mention he is the 'Bonjwa', but also he is so
dominant against Protoss. So I had to think
"he is a mere Zerg', and for that I was able
to win.
-We heard your winning ratio was very good in
training.
▶The win lose ratio in training is just a
ratio and no more. I think winning many
practice games does not result in performing
well in broadcasted matches.
-Your use Dark Templars were exceptional.
▶The nuclei of today's strategy was the
Dark Templar. Across many practice games,
Dark Templar seemed to work the best. It is
really efficient because it can kill a drone
in single slash. From now, the use of Dark
Templar will be more frequent. My Dark
Templars will be unpredictable. They will pop
out of nowhere. They should start being
cautious of my Dark Templars now.
-You have clearly proved wrong the postulate
that your gameplay might be worsened because
of the vacation the team took.
▶I didn't think too much of it. But, people
around me worried very much. I took a
relaxing vacation taking time off, and Ma Jae
Yoon was not able to have any rest going
through finals after finals. I think I won
because of that.
-What did coach say after the second set?
▶After the second set, he ordered me to
"empty my mind as if this is your first
match". I think the game played out more
smoothly because of that.
-What did your parents say?
▶I tend not to talk much before any match.
So, they didn't say anything before the
match. After the match, they encouraged me
that I have done well.
-What is your 2007 season's goal?
▶Just as I have said it before, I lacked in
confidence. From now on, I will display
myself more confidently. I will not lose in
matches. I found much confidence due to this
championship. I will continue to win more
leagues based on this (new found) confidence. Tags : Starcraft Broodwar GOMTV MSL Final Finals Savior IPXZerg Bisu Zerg Protoss Blitz |
