| John carpenter's Assault on precinct 13 soundtrack Slideshow |
 |
L.A.'s deadliest street gang just declared
war on the cops.
This is a video with the soundtrack from John
carpenters movie Assault on precinct 13. I
wanted to share this awesome and cool music
to all users on youtube. It's one of the
coolest soundtracks I've ever heard, and the
soundtrack is also so very important for the
movie.
John Carpenter is one of few directors who
can successfully transform their movies into
giant roller coaster rides without insulting
the audience. James Cameron does this,
sometimes, but usually adds more plot to his
stories. Carpenter just takes simple
premises, throws some characters together,
and lets everything evolve and unwind on
their own. "Assault on Precinct 13" deserves
to be mentioned in the same breath as "Dawn
of the Dead," or perhaps the overrated "Texas
Chainsaw Massacre," as a very low-budget
horror/thriller that takes a cast of
unknowns, places them together, doesn't
really delve into their backgrounds, but lets
everything just work itself out like
clockwork. There's an eager new cop, an
infamous death row murderer, and a relocating
precinct, all stuffed together into a movie
about a vicious gang assault. It's brilliant
in a very subtle way; a sign of things to
come for a director who has implemented some
of the most oft-used camera tricks in the
horror world.

In 1976, John Carpenter paid homage to Howard
Hawks' superlative western RIO BRAVO with his
second full-length feature film, ASSAULT ON
PRECINCT 13. Now it's Carpenter's turn to
experience some cinematic adulation, with
this remake of the film from director
Jean-François Richet. Set in Detroit,
Richet's film focuses on police Sergeant Jake
Roenick, whose failed career as an undercover
cop has lead to a New Years Eve stint in
charge of the dilapidated Precinct 13. As a
snowstorm rattles the windows and doors of
the rundown station, Roenick exchanges some
festive banter with police psychologist Alex
Sabian (Maria Bello); curvaceous secretary
Iris Ferry (Drea de Matteo); and retiring
veteran Jasper O'Shea (Brian Dennehy). But
their merriment is interrupted when a
diverted prison bus escapes the ravages of
the storm, seeking a temporary haven for its
peccant passengers in Precinct 13. Criminal
mastermind Marion Bishop (Laurence Fisburne)
is on board, along with a junkie, Beck (John
Leguizamo), and two young felons, Smiley (Ja
Rule) and Anna (Aisha Hinds). Hot on their
tail comes police detective Marcus Duvall
(Gabriel Byrne), a crooked cop who wants
Bishop dead before he testifies against
Duvall in court. Bringing a formidable army
of fellow corrupt officers with him, Duvall
puts the police station under siege in order
to snag his man before it's too late. But he
doesn't bank on the impressive wiles of
Roenick and his rag-tag mixture of cops and
criminals, who unite in an attempt to defend
themselves from an execrable ending at the
hands of Duvall and his men. A highly
entertaining action romp ensues, with
director Richet delivering a fast-paced
thriller laced with violence and surprising
plot twists, ensuring viewers are kept on
their toes right up until the film's
blood-soaked finale. Tags : short film trailer dvd movie preview cheapflix |

The lawyer for the El Paso County GOP, John
Buckley, first takes down an Obama sign from
across the street to the polling place,
blames it on poll workers, then 2 McCain
worker show up to place signs closer than
this new several hundred foot limit.
They also come equipped with some silliness
about firecrackers being thrown at kids (by
kids) It turns out to be as false as the fire
alarm pulled at the Centennial Hall polling
place.
As usual, the first order of business in a
controversy is to suspend the first amendment
right of the free press and rewrite the laws
on public "reasonable expectation of
privacy". People cheating and breaking the
law hate this open society that exposes them.
In the end, no big deal, just the usual
wrangling by a loosing party, desperate to
take an election the way they're used to
taking them. The punk squad also
misrepresented what they knew nothing about
to Buckley: that a person coming to vote
carried up an Obama sign and the poll workers
told them the law: you can't come within 100
feet with that sign, so they folded it and
put it in the trash. The poll workers thought
that might be a violation too, since it was
visible in the open trash if you looked
inside, so removed it, and these 2 guys
witnessed the removal, abut claimed the poll
workers themselves were electioneering within
100 feet.
Earlier Buckley threw out observers from the
floor who were later allowed back in because
they had a right to be there as credentialed
by various ballot initiatives.
Another GOP poll worker threw out a woman
looking up registrations for people and
claimed she was electioneering and causing a
"disruption". I taped her helping people and
she found some at the wrong precinct,
directed others to the correct line (3
precincts at this polling place) and caught
some mail in ballots that needed to be taken
downtown. Never a word about any political
issues.
(of course)
Otherwise, where I was: West Middle School,
Colorado College, Palmer High, and Hillside,
the early voting long lines ended up making
shorter lines on election day. Now if we can
just get the lines down to the 2 hour limit
that state law requires and employer give
employees off to vote, we'll have a match and
reasonable election day. Tags : colorado electioneering intimidation mccain obama perimeter poll_worker_problem polling_place videothevote videoyourvote |
