| Budgies in Love Grooming, Preening |

My pet budgies Jibijip (blue male - cock) and
Jijik (white female - hen) were in love, they
always groomed/preened each other everyday. I
hoped they would mate and have chicks but
sadly Jibijip died and was buried on Tuesday
the 17th of June, 2008. He died of a problem
in his digestive tract. I never ever planned
and never will video record a bird mating or
dieing. I don't think people should make
videos like that. As it could upset some
people.
Rest in peace my dear sweet baby Jibijip.
You're flying with the angels now, I hope
to see you in heaven.

| Male Anna's Hummingbird, fledgling, preening |

This is a fledgling male Anna's Hummingbird
preening in the branch of a magnolia tree.
You can see his distinctive red throat
beginning to show, as yet just a spot just
under his beak on his throat. Also, you can
see some of his remaining downy feathers
poking out of his wing and on his chest.
This was taken on April, 24, 2007 in the Los
Angeles area, California.
My apologies for the shaky camera work. This
was taken on the fly, hand-held and fully
zoomed with a persnickety auto-focus.

| 羽繕いするカワラヒワの群れ Greenfinches Preening |
 |
落葉したメタセコイヤ（アケボノ
スギ）の木にて。
Oriental greenfinches (Carduelis sinica
minor, family Fringillidae) flocked on the
bare branches of metasequoia (Metasequoia
glyptostroboides, family Taxodiaceae). They
basked in the winter sunshine, preening
themselves.
Mid-February, 2007 in Japan.
