| Google Sites: Simple, secure group websites |
 |
Google Sites makes it easy for anyone to
create and manage simple, secure group
websites. You can create and publish new
pages with the click of a button, edit web
pages like documents, and move content and
pages around as you please. Information is
stored securely online, and you decide who
can edit or view the site. Google Sites is
powerful enough for a company intranet, yet
simple enough for a family website. Tags : google sites website wiki technology group project collaboration intranet |

Google Tech Talks
November, 13 2007
ABSTRACT
Yahoo!'s Exceptional Performance Team has
identified 14 best practices for making web
pages faster. These best practices have
proven to reduce response times of Yahoo!
properties by 25-50%. They focus on the
front-end, for example, why it's bad to use
"@import" for including stylesheets
and why ETags disable browser caching. In
this talk I'll go in-depth on these best
practices and the research behind them. I'll
also demonstrate YSlow and do some live
performance analysis of popular web sites.

| Carnac & Morbihan: Megaliths & Sacred Sites |
 |
http://www.pilgrimsall.org/placesofpilgrimage
/CDs.htm
Brittany in the far NW corner of France is a
rugged promontory facing the Atlantic ocean.
The Morbihan area is famous for the
megalithic stone rows at Carnac and for the
great menhir at Locmariaquer.
However there are many more extravagant
megalithic sites in the area - indeed the
whole region must once have been an immense
ceremonial and cultural centre.
The immense tumulus at Gavrinis is one of the
most well-preserved prehistoric structures in
Europe, with many carved motifs on the huge
interior orthostats.
Most other tumuli are smaller and in varying
degrees of completeness, but all are
impressive.
Here are to be found megalithic complexes
without equal: tumuli, dolmens and covered
alleys, as well as menhirs, stone rows,
circles, quadrangles and ovals.
The stone rows stretch for 5 kilometers E-W
from Erdeven to Carnac and on to La Trinité,
in four sections - each with a "cromlech" (a
stone circle or quadrangle) at it's eastern
end.
The saints are an important part of the
Breton culture and may be encountered in many
guises.
