| The Making of the Sloat Custom Flying V Replica |
 |
A mind-bending puzzle that became my
obsession. I can finally sleep at night. It
has many flaws, but plays, sounds and looks
AWESOME. I did everything myself except cut
the fret slots on the fretboard. body is two
pieces of Alder, neck is Rock Maple,
fretboard is Indian Rosewood. Wilkenson
tuners and pickups, handmade bone nut and
hardware from around the world. Tags : build gibson 1958 flying replica homemade guitar mike sloat |

| the making of the SLOAT CUSTOM V II: THE "FACE-MELTER" |
 |
my second homemade flying v was difficult.
Much faster build than the first, but lots of
material problems (incompatible paints, funky
wood, etc.) This one was made strictly as a
METAL guitar, which I think I totally
accomplished; I was also trying to step my
skills up a notch, while making the
functionality of the guitar more simple.
