Aviarios del Caribe ~ Sloth Rescue Center in
Limon, Costa Rica
The sloth in this video was orphaned, and is
now cared for by the good people at Aviarios

This footage was taken while on a
country-wide excursion through costa rica.
Regretfully, this is not my pet sloth and I
have no involvement in its upbringing. I'm
sure the experienced and knowledgeable staff
at A.D.C. will release it back into the wild
when it is old and healthy enough to be able
to survive on its own.

| Three-toed sloth road escort |

We came across this three-toed sloth
struggling to cross the road between Arenal
Volcano and San Jose. We formed a loose
cordon to keep cars from running the guy
over. He made it, slowly.

To answer some questions in the comments:
a) it took 5-10 minutes for the sloth to
cross half the road
b) it was covered in bugs and algae and had
long sharp claws - no way were we going to
pick that thing up
c) WE DIDN'T CARRY A BROOM WITH US.

| Baby Sloth in Panama |

This cute little critter is a baby sloth who
temporarily lives at the Panamerican
Conservation Association wildlife rescue
center. www.panamericancon.org. We believe
the mother of the sloth abandoned the baby.
Actually, it is not uncommon for first time
sloth mother's who are still in the process
of learning how properly care for their
infants, to abandon them. A concerned
individual found the sloth lying on the
ground in the forest and brought her to the
center. The rehabilitation specialists are
teaching her to be a wild sloth so that she
can return to the wild when she is a little
older and can survive on her own. In this
video, she is learning to climb trees.

"While i was in Barcelona to work on another
project (may 2006) i learnt that Mercurio was
there too for a shoot for Alpha Romeo cars.
My boss is out of his mind and proposed me to
organize a day of shooting to create a viral
for the campaign they were doing. The
interesting thing is that i would have to
work with Kiran, the man who were acting
inside this suit of a giant sloth; i
discovered he had been in so many important
movies, the last one being the stunt double
for Frodo in the Lord of the Rings movies.
And the funnier detail is that we didn't have
a script, so i would have to come up with an
idea for the next shoot while shooting the
previous. But Kiran and all the crew was
super professional and we had a lot of fun.
