 |
"The World's Fastest Production Car"
Guinness World Record of 256.18 mph
This is a clip of SSC Shelby Super Cars'
(American) supercar/hypercar Ultimate Aero TT
top speed testing in May of 2007. SSC did
transmission temperature tests during these
runs for its 2008 Ultimate Aero twin-turbo
models. These tests have proven to be
successful, and managed to hit 241.4 mph at
71% throttle.
By the end of August 2007, SSC was confident
and invited The Guiness Book of World Records
to officially record its top speed for the
World's Fastest Production car held by the
(Swedish) Koenigsegg CCR's 242 mph, and
surpassing the unofficial
(Italian/French/German) Bugatti Veyron's top
speed of 253 mph. The high speed run in
September was held in Washington State's
predetermined "public" highway.
On September 13, 2007, the Ultimate Aero
broke the World Top Speed record run at
256.15 mph on a 2 mile stretch of public
highway in Washington State.
On October 9, 2007, The Guinness Book of
World Records officially recorded the SSC
Ultimate Aero as the fastest production car
with a top speed of 256.19 mph (412.28 kph).
Because of the "S" bends and uneven pavement
from the highway, the driver of the Ultimate
Aero, 71 years old Chuck Bigelow (an auto
enthusiast with no racing or testing
background), says that there was more pedal
to push. SSC will send an Ultimate Aero to
Europe to test its true top speed on one of
Germany's ultra-smooth test tracks.
The SSC Ultimate Aero also holds Road and
Track's slalom record, previously held by the
Ferrari Enzo.
SSC is also in the works for developing a
220+ mph ultra-luxury sports sedan to target
"Guinness Fastest Luxury Sedan", set to debut
in 2009.

| Thrust SSC - Fly-by (Excellent Mirage) |
 |
On the 15th October 1997 Thrust SSC became
the first car to ever break the sound
barrier. Piloted by Wing Commander Andy Green
of the RAF, a top speed of 763.035mph over
the flying mile was achieved.
I've uploaded five videos, one on-board and
four external (but unfortunately sound-free)
videos that I found on the back end of a BBC
website. Click on my profile for the list. Tags : Thrust SSC supersonic |

| Suzuki PIXY & SSC- Tokyo Motor Show 2007 : DigInfo |
 |
DigInfo - http://movie.diginfo.tv
Suzuki has a new people-centred vehicle
concept called Sustainable Mobility, which is
realized by a one-person low-speed transport
device called the PIXY and a minicar-based
mobility unit called the SSC, which forms an
automobile when the PIXY is paired with it.
The PIXY and SSC together deliver personal,
shareable urban transportation in line with
the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and
Industry's Next-Generation Vehicle and Fuel
Initiative, which is aimed at realizing the
world's most people-centred motorized
society.
The PIXY is a one-person transport device
based on a concept of "friendly" mobility.
Moving at low speeds on footpaths and inside
buildings, easy to operate even for people
who can't drive conventional cars. It can be
paired with the SSC for even greater
possibilities.
The SSC is a minicar-based mobility unit with
which the PIXY is mated to form an
automobile. It can hold a maximum of two
PIXYs. It's not the only type of unit with
which the PIXY can be coupled; to accommodate
other lifestyle situations, the PIXY can also
be paired with a sports-car unit called the
SSF and with a boat unit called the SSJ. The
result is an entirely new kind of personal
mobility and sharing system. Tags : diginfo Sustainable Mobility PIXY SSC suzuki Tokyo Motor Show 2007 concept car auto boat |
