For the Open Music Video Project MUSIC FROM
THE MASSES Matthias Fritsch created a silent
16mm film in the length of an average music
video. The video was provided online and
downloaded by musicians, composers and sound
designers from all over the world in order to
produce their individual soundlayer. There
were no restrictions. Until today various
soundtracks in diffenrent atmosperes, styles
and musikgenres were composed for the clip.
It is still possible to submit new versions!
The work "Music from the Masses" is produced
for exhibitions in museums and galleries as
well as for publication on video portals such
as YouTube. The work is an open edition. It
is always possible to add new compositions
and variations. This generic model of recycle
and generale new matherial is resembling the
so called "Youtube-Reality", where the
setting of placed clip material is in
constant modification. The open edition
includes not only the produced soundtracks
for the first clip but also the clip itself.
After the project continues there will be
also series of various videos and films which
embody themselves various series of
individual designed sound tracks.
New silent videos for the next seasons are in
production and will be soon open for
participation.
