Nishioka Sensei teaching the Omote series of
Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo.

This recording, put together by collecting
material filmed during ordinary classes at
Bunbukan Dojo, represents a unique occasion
to learn from Nishioka Tsuneo Sensei some of
the fundamental elements of the methods
(gijutsu), tradition (densho) and spirit
(seishin) characteristic of Shinto Muso-ryu.
With the simplicity, kindness and intensity
worthy of a true Master, Nishioka Sensei
leads us through the kata of the Omote
series, touching upon points whose importance
goes well beyond the specific technique being
studied, often transcending the ryu
boundaries to attain universal notions of
