| Explosion - An improvised synth solo |
 |
MooT BooXLe performing on the
Synthesizers.com modular analogue
synthesizer. This is not a perfect
performance, as it was improvised in one go.
Also functioning in this video are the
Moogerfooger CP-251, the Roland Space Echo,
and Reason drums.
I was controlling the filter cutoff with a CV
pedal.
REMIX available NOW at
www.myspace.com/mootbooxle !!
Also, I wasn't looking at the camera, in case
you were wondering. I was watching computer
monitors, which were showing visual feedback
on what I was playing. Thanks for watching!! Tags : moot booxle improvised keyboard bass analog synthesizer synth electronic techno synthesizers.com solo performance |

| iPhone Synth |
 |
It's very much like Propellerhead's ReBirth
(remember that one?) and other
step-sequencers. I tried to demonstrate how
some of it works but my big sausage fingers
+plus+ trying to face my MacBook's cam just
proved more challenging than I thought.
What's cool about it is that not only can you
set each note in each step of the sequence,
but the type of oscillator per note (ie
square, sine or white noise for
snares/claps), the volume of each step, and
you've got 3 octaves to choose from.
But that's not the best part - as shown in
the video, it's using the iPhone's
accelerometer to mess with the filters - the
cutoff and resonance.

| Roland GR-700 Guitar Synth & 707 Guitar Controller |
 |
I've been meaning to do this for awhile. I
scrolled thru some of the factory presets.
I'm not really a guitar player but I got the
GR-700 to do ambient textures and fat pads,
etc. The GR-700 has the same synth engine as
the JX-3P but has a more "organic" sound
because each string can send pitch bend so
you can get a really nice slight de-tuning.
Two digitally controlled oscillators per
string and a fat 24db analog filter. The
filter is the key for the sound. It has grit
and balls. The new sample playback guitar
synths may have more sounds, but they can't
compete in the "balls" category. I used the
G-707 guitar controller.
I went thru 4 different 707 controllers on
Ebay before I found one that really worked
well. The 707 I own has been completely
tweaked by a tech who knew how to set the
guitar up. The 707 also sounds awesome on its
own - the humbuckers are fat! When I
enventually sell this the buyer will know he
(or she) is getting a kick-ass collector's
piece that works beautifully. Tags : analog synthesizer moog arp oberheim sequential dave smith buchla doepfer motm serge |
