Geschwister Valtonen - Harmony Sisters
Vera, Maire and Raija Valtonen were three
real sisters from the city of Kotka in
Finnland.
Hollywood took the sisters to the world of
Cheek to Cheek and Begin the Beguine, so they
formed a vocal trio like the Andrew Sisters
and Boswell Sisters and they became the
sensation of their time in Finnland.
The fame of the charming and talented female
trio quickly reached abroad; in 1938 they
were offered a concert in China-Varieté in
Stockholm.
Their international career started when the
Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yleisradio)
sent the Harmony Sisters on three tours to
Germany during the years 1942-43. They
performed on the radio and in military
hospitals.
The tour took them also to Vienna, Bucharest,
Warsaw and Riga.
The Valtonen sisters were singing in 10
Languages. Tags : Geschwister Valtonen Benny de Weille Harmony Sisters 78rpm shellac music Andrew |
